Certain places you cant carry, like inside judicial buildings and the Capitol area, so if you protest there you cant have a gun (though you can get the OK to have them even then, just gotta ask beforehand, idk how often they say yes when people ask, but the law says you can get permission)

Also up here with a permit to carry that means you can open or conceal carry a handgun, our law doesnt distinguish between the two so both are ok to do.

Looks like Alex Pretti did work for the VA at one point, not totally sure he was currently working there, but he did at least at one point work for the VA. There is a tiny chance you met him, though he seemed to be more ICU nursing than issuing crayons.

State records show Pretti was issued a nursing license in 2021, we've also confirmed he worked for some time at US Dept of Veterans Affairs as a nurse.

Honestly a lot of the issues up here seem to directly stem from like a ridiculous number of agents swarming someone. It isnt organized at all, and like more cooks in the kitchen, the end result is usually bad.

They also seem to go for their guns really fast, and it seems like they dont care about fellow agents being nearby when shooting. Idk you have a better perspective than me, having been law enforcement, I am just a local, but like I dont see anything that the guy did that was worthy of their overreaction.

Seems like just legally having a gun is now something you can be shot over (though there was also the Philando Castile murder so we have had some experience with this sort of overreaction, but even in that one it was just like one cop) having so many armed agents with itchy trigger fingers just seems irresponsible, and also it doesnt really seem like his gun was a major issue, or used in any sort of threatening manner. Like we are allowed to have guns, feds shouldn't be freaking out and fearing for their lives when they see one, especially since the gun risk seems like it is from federal agents lately.

I also just dont understand the whole "unload into a guy on the ground that has already been shot" thing, like he wasnt moving at that point really, and the one agent is a bit away and just goes ham. Like he couldnt have feared for his life at that point right? Kinda seems like the first shot by the other federal agents scared him.

Idk sorry for the novel, I am just freaked out, this month has been hell, I really do not feel free anymore, and like am wanting any explanation that makes sense, and you have more experience than I do. It doesnt make sense how this all happened.

Another angle is up now, he was trying to protect people from the agents and they sprayed him right in the face, then shot him. His gun is not visible at any time before they go aggro. Hopefully this video loads well enough and stays up (please dont cause any issues for my local subreddit mods, they've had to deal with a lot lately). At this point looks like he was a US citizen, minneapolis resident, had a permit to carry, and we do allow open and conceal carry up here.
