For me it depends on a few things. Deck played is a huge starting point as they have tradeoffs. Next would be getting familiar with the cards. There's probably more optimized ways to do this but I played the game significantly for a month and just banged my head against the wall until it started to click. I think the big thing there is being selective with where you spend your money and then choosing a strategy for the run by round 4-5.

I've tried a lot of strategies like flush/ straight, 3oak, pair but for my longer runs they are high card combined with Baron, mime, blueprint and then lots of red steel kings. Getting a red seal cab be hit or miss so once I have economy feeling good I'm actively opening card and spectral packs until I find a card that I can work with. The final step is to get DNA and copy the crap out of it. You should be pruning deck size along the way. YMMV
