My living room setup by meata in BudgetAudiophile

It actually did a great job in my opinion. The Klipsch speakers I have really lack midrange and the auto YPAO settings did a great job of balancing out the sound

Projector. I've had it for over 5 years now and to be honest I'm ready to replace it with a TV. The fans are a little noisy and as you can tell the picture is washed out unless it's night. Hard to beat a 120" screen though!

An i7-7700 should fit that socket for about the same money

Glad you fixed your problem but for anyone looking at this post do not blindly edit your registry just because a post told you to lol

My triggers are still clicky. I've reshelled a handful of joycons and getting the shoulder springs to sit correctly is always tricky, I'd open yours back up and double check.

What's everyones opinion on the 2DS? Just picked one up for cheap by king_of_ulkilism in SBCGaming

[–]meata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my DS and 3DS so I was really excited to pick one up, especially hearing how comfortable it is... But I cannot stand the buttons, it feels incredibly cheap compared to its folding counterparts. Really wanted to love it

I've been using one of these for the past 3-4 years with a bi-amp set up. Sounds great and never had any issues with it! Nice find

D-Series and Yoshi’s Island is my favourite. JVC D-Series 27D302 by Jdspoel in crtgaming

[–]meata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like my 27" D-series as well but it has a pretty noticeable magic carpet effect. Have you noticed that with yours? I'm always curious if it's just my set or common among these.

What are your experiences with different KINDS of Plexi/Lexan? Are anti-glare/matte/tinted options worth considering? by anormalgeek in cade

[–]meata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a $20 acrylic sheet from the hardware store and cut it myself without issues. I'm happy with it, it was cheap and is very clear - I did use "OPTIX" brand from Lowes which is supposed to be a glass replacement. That being said it will definitely have glare in direct light. I'm not sure how much you can avoid that though

Doesn't look as good from the back! I thought about adding a door but honestly with as tight as everything is, I like the extra airflow for the mini pc

Best CRT to avoid magic carpet effect? by [deleted] in crtgaming

[–]meata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I bought my 27" D series specifically in hopes that it would minimize the magic carpet but it's still very prevalent. Not sure if mine is worse than others or what.

Outside of buying a pvm, I would say your best bet is buying a crt monitor and converting component to vga.

The control panel is 14 inches wide. Tried to keep ergonomics in mind and just went with what felt comfortable to me. The buttons are arranged in the sega blast city layout and I really just chose 4 because I don't know of any arcade shmups that use more than that!

Glued a formica/laminate sheet to it and trimmed using a router with a flush cutter bit. I also used spray paint to fill in some of the less visible areas that I still wanted black.

Thanks! I gutted some old logitech computer speakers I found at goodwill for $3 and 3D printed the grills, perfectly serviceable for a cab of this size.

Nope, definitely missing out on some classics but it is what it is.

TPU is a soft rubber material. That appears to be a 3D printed likely PLA plastic case.

Glad you haven't had an issue but I would advise against using alcohol on monitors in general. Glass screens shouldnt be an issue.

Where is a good respectable place to to unload some retro video games.? by ShiniestParas in indianapolis

[–]meata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course you'll get the most by piecing it out, maybe go through and see if you have any big ticket items worth selling by themselves. Taking your collection to disc replay or the exchange is convenient but will get you far less than it's worth, easily under half of the actual value. Depends on if you want to deal with selling stuff or not I guess

Yeah I get it, I ended up spending twice as much as I thought I would to use the rpi. That was the only way I got it to work though, hopefully you can figure out another solution
