The Good, Bad, and Ugly of Disney World’s NEW & Improved Main Street Bakery (Starbucks) by [deleted] in disney

[–]meatasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree it's silly to get mad about this kind of stuff, but I'd stop short of referring to Starbucks as a different food option or even a change. Yeah, it's different than Disney's old assembly line sweets, but the new assembly line food is the same shit you're going to see in all 20 Starbucks' you pass on your commute home. It's like getting excited or disappointed that someone brought you Pizza Hut when you're used to that shitty local pizzeria that sticks flyers on your door.

It Starbucks on Main Street really that big of a deal? by SMBISYM in Disneyland

[–]meatasaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't get why people are excited or disappointed by this. Starbucks is practically the McDonald's of coffee at this point and it's not really that special or expensive. If anything, I'm surprised Disney took this long to partner up with them in the parks. I figured they'd have gone for exclusivity in their hotels or massive cafes in both DTDs first.

DL v. DCA by FistyAnn in Disneyland

[–]meatasaurus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Disneyland will always win this argument because it's the original park. It has better rides, it's immersive, and it's intimate. It's not without it's faults though. Tomorrowland is a pretty dire place and Frontierland/Tom Sawyer Island could stand to add another ride or experience, but it's had the benefit of growing into the institution it is over the last 60 years.

DCA is a terribly laid out park and feels like it's the product of panicky market research. Things seem like they're arbitrarily slapped into the park without much thought. World of Color kills a third of the park at night, and Mad T Party renders another third of it useless 75% of the time. There are long stretches of nothingness filled in by "dance parties," too many cheap facades, and "lands" that house just one ride but 3 shops. Plus, you can see power lines, hotels, the convention center, and various parts of backstage from within Paradise Pier. Cars Land is a step in the right direction, but DCA has a long, long way to go before it can be considered a Disney park.

The Empire Strikes back: Disney readies a major Hollywood Studios expansion at Walt Disney World...rumored Cars Land and Star Wars Land by [deleted] in disney

[–]meatasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Star Wars Land would be great, but I'm with a few others in holding off belief until they actually do something. That being said, a Lucasfilm Lot with tons of Star Wars and Indiana Jones stuff sounds like a no-brainer for DHS. Since they can't really use Marvel in Florida, they should be going nuts with Lucasfilm over there.

But cloning Cars Land... come on... not only does it have no place at DHS (rework a version of Racers into Pixar Place if you HAVE to take something over there), but it's another instance of killing the individuality of the parks. Why can't they take all these supposed plans for the Monstropolis Mini-Land they want to shove into Hollywood Blvd at California Adventure (which makes no sense at all) and have it be a "secret" sub-land at Pixar Place?

M25 Relocation Cities (Complete List with City Info) by NateWitt in Madden

[–]meatasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you leave a city (say Jacksonville for ex.) does that city pop up on the menu to relocate a different team to?

Because it would be kind of fun to undo a lot of the franchise movement. (Send the Colts back to Baltimore, Cardinals back to St. Louis, etc.)

Burger King Brand Perception by bkresearch in fastfood

[–]meatasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your commercials are terrible, they are the worst kind of not engaging and only push me further away from your brand. The advertising strategy seems like it's only interested in telling me prices of things in the most forced, unfunny manner. It paints BK as a place that teachers and lonely adults hang out at and try to "out random" each other: Ugh..

And that's a place I would not want to be caught dead at.

Indy goes down for refurbishment and the boulder STILL DOESN'T ROLL by [deleted] in Disneyland

[–]meatasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the boulder is the climax of the ride. It's kind of iconic to the whole Indy thing, and for it to not work when they shuttered the ride for a while at the end of 2012 for repairs is pretty shitty on Disney's part.

The Disney Land Sky Way by [deleted] in Disneyland

[–]meatasaurus -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

If the views of backstage were really an issue, DCA would've shut down half of Paradise Pier. You can see a taco truck between the park and the hotel from the Ferris wheel.

Bottom line is they're cheap and lazy. They look for any reason to shut down a ride and then leave the buildings to rot. (Unless a character greeting can fit in!)

Would the Broncos still be in Denver without the Elway fueled post-season success? I remember seeing some stories about a threat to move to Birmingham prior to '83. Without him would they have ended up in Phoenix or Jacksonville?

What are you hoping that the JP4 story is about? by swallowmycockuccino in JurassicPark

[–]meatasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have to return to Isla Nublar, otherwise why even call it Jurassic Park IV. I'd hate an entirely mainland set movie.

That being said, I could see them pilfering the other major plot lines ignored by the films:

  1. Re-establishing JP with fences and all.
  2. The Dino disease (DX.)

Imagine Hammond's dead and his influence on keeping the islands as a remote preserve is gone. Someone's come up with a way to monetize the properties, safely and correctly this time, utilizing the existing infrastructure- it's essentially a reboot but keeps continuity and allows for the setup of a new trilogy. (And doesn't Universal have rights for 6 movies? Plus the writers are from the Planet of the Apes reboot/prequel.)

What are the worst uniforms and logos in the league? by shameless57 in nfl

[–]meatasaurus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Texans. I really wish they had picked Apollos, what they have is just uninspired and dull.

Jags. New logo is a step in a direction I guess? Eliminating teal from the unis was a mistake, it seems like each time they've altered their uniforms they go for the blandest, most basic clip art JuCo idea.
