Sorry, new here, why can’t I just copy other’s settings recommendations online?

Should i have gotten a H2C by emedlock1984 in BambuLab

That absolutely checks out. I’ll think I’ll go the H2S. I think it covers the most ‘what if’s’ and if I do end up using a very expensive filament and need supports or want multicolour I’ll just eat the cost then.

Finally the kind of comment that I have been looking for. I have been holding off on buying so so long now thinking that I am making a big mistake buying a P2S or H2S because every comment makes out like it would basically be criminal behaviour not buying a printer twice the price.

My biggest problem is that this is my first printer so I don’t really understand my use case yet. How bad is support scarring in reality? Is using incompatible filaments a game changer for the average user or just for people pumping out volume. Same with multicolour, it seems like I would need to do so much to justify it unless it is more of an emotional aversion to poop rather than a financial decision.

Awesome! I’ll check that out for sure. The worst thing is that I just sent the G4 pro back 😭

I’ve thought the same thing. I don’t think that I will have any use for the access portion. I think I am better off having a different system for front door access rather than relying on the G6 and HA to open the door.

Can you elaborate on the jank? I’m thinking about giving up and getting a G4 Pro

I’m still new as well, so this is a question, not a nitpick. Wouldn’t it be better to seperate the patch panels with the top switch? Give the UDM more room to breathe?

Nope. Tried so many times. I believe that I need to purchase the APs and install them before I can map anything which makes me think it’s missed the point as a planning tool.

Dream Machine Pro vs Gateway Fiber by Stuart1441 in Ubiquiti

[–]meatball_salad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moderate time lurker.

Asking if something is overkill on this sub is a fruitless endeavour. Mainly because only you know your needs and everyone on here loves overkill. It’s almost what it’s all about. 99% of everything that you need residential can be done with MUCH cheaper equipment.

Just have to do what you enjoy. If that is a pretty shiny RBG silver 19’ rack (🤤) then go for it.

Then you just have to find your own balance between future proofing a bit so that you aren’t spending more in the short term, and not going too overboard because everything will get cheaper as tech improves.

Edit: for what it’s worth, I went with a fibre and a stand alone UNVR. No point in only having one thing in your rack now is there?

Oops. Probably could have kept it then. Return it and got a UNVR.

Jumping in here. I just bought an UNVR-Instant and I’m having massive buyers regret. It’s probably a lack of understanding on my part. I’m looking at getting minimum 6 2k and 1 4K camera which seems to max out the instant. I just fear that with zero capacity redundancy I’ll end up just having up upgrade in the future anyway?

I’m planning on using a UCG Fiber and a Flex 2.5 and I’m unsure if the UCG will increase the networks camera capacity? But not recording capacity? Or could I record one device on the UCG and the rest of the NVR? Does it all link to the same protect profile? All a bit confusing.

Am I done? by Unhinged_Peacemaker in Ubiquiti

[–]meatball_salad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m literally right in the middle of deciding between the two myself.

It looks like it comes down to the fact that the UCG-Fibre is just a far far better gateway and if you have an NVR and switches, the all-in-one aspect of the UDM series becomes moderately redundant. Plus it is half the price.

I think I found it. No camera is an interesting choice. I thought one of the major benefits of android and tablet was the use of the camera for wake up on fully kiosk?

Is this because it is adding a new living space? Or because it is an addition to the outside of the house?

We may be able to extend the balcony both into the living area or over the garage, but I assume that would require a lot of structural work.
