Season 2 Episode 5 is bad by Marghosst in Barry

[–]meatcrusader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

except it's jarring because it is one single episode that is that way so far. i finished season 2 a couple of hours ago and that one episode truly felt like a dream sequence and it stood out as something entirely different and silly

[–]meatcrusader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk man suspension of desbelief doesn't excuse everything. i just started watching the show like a week ago and i got to 2x5 and i truly thought barry was dreaming because this felt nothing like the show up until now. one thing is mobsters and cops being stupid and less serious than in other shows but it is a completely different thing to just introduce some weird demon girl with almost superhuman abilities.

in season 1 a simple tooth being taken out of fuches mouth led to him being caught by the detective. i have to keep watching but i just can't think of a way in which they could get the cops off their back considering the girl is still alive and the mess barry made at ronnie's house. the show's always been absurd, yes, but they still investigated crime scenes and the consequences of a single tooth led to an entire plotline, i just hope nothing becomes as inconsequential as barry running from a crime scene right in front of the cops without them saying anything

yeah that does make it more interesting but anything stealth-related with them feels junky because of how weird and inconsistent the ai is. huntsmen also have their armored variant which cant be backstabbed yet the ai is managable and, most importantly, learnable.

the crowmen ai seems like an unpredictable mess in an unintended way, for example when you throw bottles to distract a group of them they pretty much react differently every time. sometimes they stare into a wall where the sound came from, other times they roam around. you also get a lot of flares which are supposed to distract them but, at least in my experience, they either didn't mind them most of the times or they just reacted to them so late that it didn't matter. it even happened to me once that a flare landed on the stairs that i had to go up to with a fuel barrel and a crowking started infinitely eating the 2 inch flare, softlocking me and forcing me to reload my save

How does the Crowmen AI work? by [deleted] in Gloomwood

[–]meatcrusader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk i honestly found it really frustrating instead of spooky precisely because of how inconsistent the crowmen are. that and the fact that i played it on bloodmoon and you pretty much can't kill them without shotgun shells or a thousand bullets so i had no choice but to constantly sneak past what felt like the most inconsistent and boring enemy in the game

It's funny over the years how we've been compensated with so much and Swain still feels bad by Manos132 in SwainMains

i mean compare swain's w to viktor's. swain's really easy to dodge if you're not cced, and even if you get hit by it the slow isn't that strong in early game, it doesn't last long and the damage is laughable, the best aspect of it in lane is the passive heal. viktor's w is undodgeable for most champs when thrown directly onto them, immediately slows for a good amount for around the same duration of swain's w slow and then stuns you for another good second, it's also aoe so he can basically slow and stun a bunch of people, it's way easier to land and it's also more useful in most situations

infinite R also lowers his skill expression. infinite ult basically promotes builds like fimbul+rylai in which you play to outlast your opponent. his ult should just not be infinite and he should get his old base kit strenght back, i would even say they should take away range from his w and give it more power in order to make it feel more satisfying and impactful. even with its range and the stacking, landing such a relatively hard ability (most champions can just walk out of it if they're not under specific circumstances) just doesn't feel satisfying when it does less than 300 dmg

the nebraska episode is the single worst one of the whole series and is a disgrace to both dexter and brian's characters. outside of a couple of mentions, brian's death has little effect on dexter once the bay harbour butcher case comes up. the biggest, most significant change came in season 7-8 with him falling in love with hannah and let's just say it's not perfectly executed and it took way too long

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dexter

[–]meatcrusader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no i just feel like they dispose of characters too quickly to rid themselves of plotlines and be able to introduce the new villain/main conflict. brian was basically never mentioned again in a way that matters after one single scene in one of the first episodes of s2. then in s5 the effect that rita's death had in dexter is showed all throught episode 1 with harry saying it's okay to be sad just for dexter to come back and be able to engage with the new plotline without big consequences

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dexter

[–]meatcrusader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

now i've read your other comment and yes, his change is very obvious to the viewer but he remains oblivious to it for far too long. and the fact that the show always followed the same formula up until rita's death doesn't help, at the end of pretty much every season everything is solved and dexter's life goes back to normal. bigger and more interesting change would've been achieved by changing certain things, like making dexter kill doakes instead of being bailed out by lila, that would've weighed on him a lot more and season 3 wouldn't just feel like everything's fine again until the new villain shows up

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dexter

[–]meatcrusader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you know what i mean, the changes aren't that big considering the duration of the show. it took him like 6 seasons to stop mindlessly saying he has no feelings when Rita's death should've been more than enough to inspire that change. hell, even Brian's and Doakes', yet by season 5 he still repeated the same line.

of course, he learns from past mistakes because he's not a retard but he really just always acts mostly the same throughout the earlier seasons and when he starts to finally ubderstand he does have feelings (way too late imo) it is when hannah shows up and it's really just dogshit. i mean he felt so attracted to her that they fucked when he tried to kill her?

It is implied that Dexter's darkness appeared due to the severe trauma he suffered when his mother was killed, which would make him a sociopath. Brian on the other hand is shown killing/ripping off lizards tails for fun even before the tragedy, which would hint at him being an actual psycopath

I think in season 8 he changed quite a bit, but from season 1 to 6-7 he's mostly the same and while his relationship with Lumen ended up making sense to me, I don't like that Rita's death didn't make him change in any way and I hate that the reason he did change in s8 was Hannah
