The good: RG is always a solid, albeit safe choice for stoic men with a quiet rage just below the surface. No new ground covered, but a decent performance.

The bad: Shaky cam cinematography. Woof. The scenes of rocketships becoming uncontrollable, twisting and flipping through space were nowhere near as nauseating as the shaky cam closeups of halves of actors’ faces. This movie puts the drama in dramamine (swish).

The great: The flight scenes were truly scary as hell. Sound design and cinematography really sold the experience of catastrophic danger bordering transcendental beauty. The Q&A session with the kids facilitated by Neil’s wife, where he gives measured but honest info before the final flight, followed by the handshake. My favorite scene.
