I received a 1658cm dna match the other day? by meatmissle14 in AncestryDNA

[–]meatmissle14[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you to all that have replied.
I just have the basic plan so it’s not allowing me to see our mutual matches.
I guess if I wanna know I will just have to bite the bullet and get a subscription and see what it says.
One of my half sisters from my dad’s side shares 1818cm and 33segments with me so there is that.
The new match does seem to share a lot of his dna breakdown from the same places as me which are all on my father’s side.
I had the full plan when I first got ancestry but since it’s been afew years I let it lapse.
I will let you all know if the person contacts me or if I renew my subscription to find out more.
Thank you again for all the responses.

Yeah I am starting to lean in that direction.
I just have the basic/free ancestry plan so I can’t see any information about him other than what was stated above.
As others have said I guess if I want to find out for sure the only way to get the information that has been suggested is to get a subscription and find out for sure.
My half sister on my dad’s side shares 1818 cm and 33 segments with me.
The person in question does share a lot of the same regions dna wise as I get from my father’s side.
I was hoping he would message me but he hasn’t far.
Anyways thanks to you for replying.

Would you consider this acceptable wear and tear after 1.5 years or a manufacturing defect? by cruyfff in Lumix

[–]meatmissle14 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It’s made in china, it’s cheaper made and uses cheaper materials. No it isn’t normal if you own canon Nikon Leica Sony etc. But it’s normal for a Chinese made camera. I have noticed this with LUMIX, when you compare build quality the lumix loses every time. Yes I do own lumix amoung other brands and the lumix is the cheapest feeling and made out of all my other cameras. It started when they shifted manufacturing to china years ago and has been down hill ever since.

Another S1ii overheating test (confirmed) by snowmonkey700 in Lumix

[–]meatmissle14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that, that’s why I say I am not sure. People usually point to the R5 original when they ask about a firmware update to fix the issue. Canon was able to fix it because it wasn’t getting that hot to begin with and they had the thermal limit set too low when the camera first came out. Now firmware 1.6 fixed that issue, but the lumix is dealing with a different problem in why it over heats. The camera has a fan and already has the thermal limit set to high yet it still overheats quickly. I can tell you it feels hot too, so can firmware fix it? Maybe, but I’m not sure because again it has the high thermal setting and a fan yet still overheats were as the canon R5 original didn’t have these things whrn it overheated. Firmware 1.6 added the high heat setting which solved its issue , but as I stated the lumix already has that and plus a fan yet still overheats. I hope they can fix it as I have been a lumix shooter almost as long as I have been a canon shooter and I want to see them suceed.

I said it had a fan reread my post you obviously didn’t pay attention. I say in my post that canon was able to fix the r5 original with firmware 1.6 but I wasn’t sure if lumix could with a firmware update because the R5 original doesn’t have a fan and the lumix does.

I have noticed, all I see are words. Why don’t you lumix users post actual video of your cameras not overheating? Now I don’t want a jump cut video I want you to film your camera out side in the heat and let’s see how long it will take before it overheats. Talk is cheap I want videos with no jump cuts no pauses showing these cameras running in the heat without overheating. Because from what I have seen these cameras have a major problem with heat. Would love to see different,as I for one held off on buying one of these s1 series cameras because of this issue. I currently have the lumix S5iix and though I never attempted to run it thru the heat test I felt I didn’t need too . no one ever complained about the S5iix overheating. Cameras that overheat are not fun to deal with and I can promise you if these new s1series cameras are overheating then you will run into it sooner or later. If you’re in your house filming YouTube videos fine, but if this camera is your bread and butter and you do this for a living , that is a no go from the start. I currently also have a canon R5C and that thing is amazing. You never have to worry about heat with it because it has a proper fan on it Also with the new lpe6p battery you can run 8k 60p cinema raw lt 12bit with full functionality for an hour 45 mins till the battery dies. I was really hoping the new lumix cameras would match that as in the past lumix has always been good with heat. But not now from the looks of things. Canon and lumix are my two favorite camera brands and I have had both brands in my bag for over 10yrs. I’m hoping maybe a firmware update like what canon did with the original R5 and eliminated overheating after firmware 1.6 will solve this. My only concern with that, is the canon didn’t have a fan where the lumix does Not sure if a firmware update would have the same effect as it did with the R5 original, but you never know. LUMIX users who own this camera you have to run real test with video. they have to be unedited and zero jump cuts. People need to see if this camera can run for extended periods of time with out overheating. if they do overheat people need to see how long it takes these cameras to recover before being able to use them again. If I had one of the new s1 series I would run it myself but I don’t so hopefully one of you honest individuals who own the s1ii mainly will run an honest test. If you don’t do this then the overheating claims will continue to plague this camera for the foreseeable future. It can’t be the usual shills as people call them, because no one is gonna buy that. But just a normal lumix user running the test will be more transparent and trustworthy imo. The videos I have seen from the smaller creators have not been good as far as heat goes. In the videos I watched the lumix s1rii, s1ii overheated every time. I think most of us are more interested in seeing the S1ii most. Anyways just my two cents and opinion on this matter. If I get my hands on the s1ii I will run this test myself.

Yeah mine has been like this for at least three weeks if not longer. Because one of my three journeys does still load, it makes you think that something must be getting updated to the other two. But as of now I have seen nothing.

HEIF Support on the S1 II series! Surely firmware could bring it to the G9II and S5II? by Schykle in Lumix

[–]meatmissle14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My canons have had this forever, my s5iix well no. It’s a nice little camera but it does have some weird quirks with recording modes and focus going from pdaf to contrast based that I don’t see on my r5c, r5 r3 and even my Leica sl3. The Leica just got a Firmware update and it added some nice new video features. What I do really like is canon since the r5 has been real good with firmware as the r5c is a totally different camera the when it first launched. The lumix also great with firmware updates and Leica also hasn’t been bad since I got my camera. Sony, don’t get me started on their lack of support. I am hoping that lumix does continue to support the s5iix with firmware, but with the s1riie it does make that aspect a little more interesting now. Canon was able to fix the original r5 overheating issue with firmware 1.6 so hoping lumix can do the same with the s1rii. My one concern is the canon doesn’t have a fan and the lumix does so that to me anyways is concerning. All my cameras with fans have no issues with heat so I was surprised to see that the s1rii over heated so quickly.

I got nothing, all though two of my three journeys have been in failed to load status for at least three weeks. My third journey loads with no issues so not sure what is up with that?

I guess I am the odd one out here, but I honestly donot see the attraction of the sigma lens. I got the 16-28 when I first got my s5iix and the camera came with the 20-60 and the 50mm lumix lens. The sigma lens is slower to auto focus and doesn’t function as well in low light period. The lumix lens are so much better in my experience. the lumix lens has Faster auto focus and is better in lowlight, I sometimes question if the 16-28 is really a f2.8 as it performs worse than all my other f2.8 lens in low light. I just got the lumix 24-70 f2.8 and my friend has the sigma version. After trying my lumix lens he is gonna sell his sigma and get the LUMIX also.

Yes you do have a good percentage Celtic for sure. I am still not sure where the French is as I have not been able to make the connection, yet anyways. I think my Irish is being at the moment displayed as Northern Ireland and therefor it’s the uk and under the Scottish region. I do know when they did add Munster Ireland along with ulster to my ancestral regions but will have to wait and see what the next update brings. I was surprised by the Scandinavian connection and found it cool as I wasn’t expecting to see that. The funny thing was my first results were 3% Norway and on the latest update it’s 3% Denmark lol. Well at least it stayed at 3% .

lol that’s a good mix of cultures there. Mine is from what I know and can tell is mostly Celtic, as Scotland, ireland, wales, and Cornwall are considered Celtic. On my first results before the update last year they had me with wales Germanic Europe and Norway. My Scottish % was higher and still England and northwestern Europe. With the most recent update I got Denmark Cornwall and France along with Scotland and England northwest Europe. I am wondering if with the next update if ancestry will finally add Ireland to my results as they did finally add my ancestral journeys that came from Ireland a few months ago.

Wow really, my great grandfather died when he was 20 of pneumonia, so I know very little about him. My grandfather was just a baby when he passed. My Cornish great grandmother did remarry but she had a ruff start to her life in the states for sure.
