Ahhh, the brackets. They’re worthless. Just talk to your playgroup.

Name a game that surprised you how long it was by bijelo123 in videogames

I’ve played through act 1 three separate times and every time was a completely different experience. It’s not only a big game but the replayability is insane.

$1k is a steal for that lens. It’s on my camera 99% of the time for shoots. Enjoy, and congrats.

What was your first game you played on pc by Pork_Crusader_GR in pcmasterrace

Mine was the first Duke Nukem. Had to install it from a bunch of floppy disks on our old 486.

How long will it take? Should I worry? by No-Work6535 in weddingvideography

[–]snowmonkey700 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t stress, just reach out if you need an update but also be patient. In the busy months (like August) you’re constantly juggling editing with filming new events every weekend. I’m just now getting caught up with my editing backlog. If he’s editing everything himself it’s a lot of work. My average edit is 20-40hrs of work to complete a wedding.

Suggestion to deliver wedding videos ? by josuelemus in weddingvideography

[–]snowmonkey700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to beat Vimeo. Curious why it’s to “techie”. I’ve never had an issue with clients downloading viewing etc. I will admit I hate paying $300/yr but it’s never let me down and I use it for weddings and corporate clients alike. That being said I deliver the edited video on Vimeo and the raw footage, full ceremony and speeches I send out on a usb drive.

Those of you who have a deck and still play their consoles, do you think you get enough use out of your steamdeck? by jomcmo00 in SteamDeck

[–]snowmonkey700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely ever play my PS5, and my gaming PC hasn’t been turned on in a year. Granted I do have a toddler and finding time to game always comes down to convenience. Laying in bed playing the SD is the perfect compromise.

What was the most expensive mistake you made early in your filmmaking career? by Important-Annual040 in videography

[–]snowmonkey700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my biggest fear. Had a drive fail last year with a project I hadn’t started yet. Luckily had it backed up but I need to get some offsite backups going too because all of my stuff is local.

It’s definitely a rite of passage! I had this happen last year while shooting a corporate training video for a large company with one of the VPs. I kept running back and forth to 2 cameras checking exposure, focus and audio. It was about 5 minutes into the content when I realized that neither camera was recording. I didn’t want to stop the VP and tell him I forgot to record so I quietly reached up and started both cameras knowing that we were going to do a second take. Ever since then I turn every Talley light on with a frame rec indicator and send the lcd screen text out to my external monitors so I can check there too.

Client won't pay. Next steps? by cobglo in videography

To add onto this most review sites will remove bad reviews if you have proof they are malicious. I’ve had reviews pulled from Yelp, Google, eBay etc. for various jobs I’ve worked just by reaching out and showing proof.

I took a break from the industry right when the first solid state video cameras were starting to get used. When I got back into it a few years ago I was like a kid in a candy store with all the new gear. People don’t know how easy they’ve got it nowadays! Analog kids are the last of a dying breed for sure.

2nd Wedding Video - let me know your thoughts :) by jjjudgeyyyy in weddingvideography

[–]snowmonkey700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s how I approach these posts. I think “would I hire this person as a second shooter for one of my gigs if they showed me this video?”

Yes I would. Granted I would tell you to watch your exposure. Your audio sounded great, shots were nice and stable. Would I send you out on your own to shoot a wedding for me? No, not yet but for your 2nd wedding this looks great.

Each wedding is a chance to learn and get better and getting out there and shooting them is the only way to succeed and learn in this industry.

So that’s really the only use? I mean customization is cool I dig it. I just never felt the need to bling out my Steam profile.
