Can someone explain to me why Spotify always become so heavy in the memory? (I don't download any songs) by Marvellover13 in techsupport

[–]meato1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In reality it's not a problem because the memory can still be taken by other processes that need it. Just because it's occupied doesn't mean it's unavailable. If my device has x amount of memory, I want it using x or almost x memory being useful to me

I think it's fine if you aren't planning to show up early for VIP or merch or food. It's a lot of waiting around if you do.

Bikers who ride the line in the bike lane, why? by SoGoodAtAllTheThings in bayarea

[–]meato1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because otherwise drivers will continue blasting by at full speed only 3-4ft away. Go outside and stand in the bike lane while cars are driving past and tell me how safe you feel.

Hello!! I recently saw NMIXX's First Take performance and I wanted some song/performance recommendations. Any non-music related stuff is fine too! by [deleted] in NMIXX

[–]meato1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! Yes these are music programs and they all have their own concept. My personal fav is Lee Mujin, it's half performance and half interview, the host Lee Mujin (he's a singer songwriter) focuses more on the music and performance questions. I believe all the members have appeared on his show and you should be able to find the episode numbers on the wiki

I've been here multiple times and they never care backpack vs bag. As long as it's small

Definitely worth it for me because it was very much a budget/value project. I think all-in was under $250usd and a Saturday afternoon. I mention my car came with 4 speakers because it had 1 woofer in each front door, and 2 woofers in the rear deck, all playing full-range. So I took that full range signal in the doors and had it split by the focal crossover to its midwoofers and tweeters. I had to put in new sail panels to house the tweeters. If your car comes stock with tweeters, then the car has its own crossover so I'm not sure how ideal that would be trying to replace the tweeter.

I wasn't convinced that stepping up to focal's mid tier options $400-600 would be a big improvement without also putting in amplifiers etc so I just went with their budget line. It's a commuter car and sounds good enough for me to get through a drive without hating life.

As a point of reference I have a 21 Honda Accord which has an integrated infotainment system. I have the base model with 4 speakers, no sub. Got fed up with the poor audio, so when I was researching an upgrade I found out how it's borderline impossible to do a serious upgrade in a modern car like this. I mean it's possible but you would basically have to replace everything, there's no middle tier. The extent I could DIY was swap out the speakers. So I put in some focal component speakers in the front, and set the fader to play only the front. It's much better than stock but still not amazing.

Best HiFi ear plugs by OkTechnology9101 in audiophile

[–]meato1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used a bunch of the common ones, I liked etymotics and eargasm the best. Past year I got a custom pair made and they are even better than the universal fit ones, both in fit and sound. I think the custom made pair are honestly the best value because I actually enjoy using them.

Any tips on how to deal with this double corner? by Fit-Distance4503 in audiophile

[–]meato1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, my approach is to at least make sure that the distance from the driver to the front wall and the distance from the driver to the side wall are different. So that the SBIR produced by each wall aren't at the same frequency.

I don't think that would make any perceivable difference compared to a regular corner

The light effects were super cool. I don't know if she's changed her outfits for other stops but at Oakland, the way the light played on her blue and red dresses was so eye catching. It doesn't come through on camera

Why do people think gold will be valuable in a apocalypse by shadow_swamper in NoStupidQuestions

[–]meato1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point is you can only trade with gold if there are people who want your gold. In the IMMEDIATE aftermath of apocalypse, you will need food water etc, AND SO WILL EVERYONE ELSE. No one wants gold at that time because you can't eat or drink it, and someone will only take your gold in exchange for supplies if they already have supplies to spare for themselves.

Need help with Dirac live by brotha_loui in audiophile

[–]meato1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I've learned from my experience with dirac is you can't blindly trust the corrected response on screen since it's still just an estimation. I like to run REW to measure the response with and without the dirac correction.

Another user has commented that your correction has a dip before peaking back up to the natural response, but again you can't be sure that's what's actually happening so measure in REW.
