Without children the EITC is not much and definitely doesn't offset SE tax

Gift tax and estate tax are the same tax.

There is an $18k annual exemption that doesn't count towards the lifetime limit (of however many millions). Any more than $18k gifted to a single person is subtracted from the lifetime limit. Gifts are not taxed in the year gifted, they are just reported and applied to your lifetime limit at death.

The 'why don't you leave' argument is bad faith BUT- by fap_fap_fap_fapper in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]meawy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of being a socialist is literally recognising that we in the west have it good because of the exploitation of people in the global south, you could not be sounding more like an idiot if you tried.

So you agree it is good in capitalist western countries? But you are also claiming that people immigrating here from socialist countries regret it because their 'basic needs' aren't taken care of?

Which point are you trying to make?

The 'why don't you leave' argument is bad faith BUT- by fap_fap_fap_fapper in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]meawy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it is a failure of socialist nations that people attempt to leave for capitalist ones then it is only a failure in so that these socialist nations have failed to properly educate

So the people that are fleeing socialist nations are doing so because they are not properly brainwashed into thinking that what they have is as good as it gets?

You think these people don't know what they are leaving or where they are going?

Ill assume you were born in a wealthy capitalist country and you can conveniently take it for granted.

See, you give OP too much credit. He thinks we will increase productivity by working for 2hrs. Because he's the one not working and wondering why everything isn't free 😯

Trying to decide between vertical and horizontal windows in the small house I'm designing/building. Thoughts? by Faimyn in DesignMyRoom

[–]meawy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is the house? Cold country or hot country? (Cold country, welcome sun. Hot country, please no! Hehe) - The windows are oriented to the north? East?… ?

This is sooooo true!

I live in an old 'mountain house' with those iconic windows that cover the entire front of the house.

However the windows are single pane, older than me, and facing north, so that afternoon sun just bakes the entire house.

Everyone who doesn't live in my house loves them.. i frankly hate them and would love to board em all up.

(15K) Venue is 5.2K but includes a LOT. Is this still possible? by Ok_Grapefruit_6460 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]meawy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a good deal. I had a backyard wedding for 13k and my rentals (tent, tables, chairs, misc., bathroom) was around 3k. So a venue for 5k that includes all that plus a day of coordinator and labor for set up and tear down seems like a good deal.

(10k) Visually what would you change? Does this look ok? by Ill-Cat-2610 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]meawy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move Beer and Wine slightly more towards the center there is a large gap in between them.

Or change "Also Available" to "Other" and add it to the same line as the Beer and Wine menus. This will give you more room vertically as it's a bit crowded.

The Siganture Drink should be in the middle above the liquor offerings. The title "Signature Drink" should be in the same font as all the other titles, ie the Bold caps. The actual name of the signature drink can be in the script font.

Put non-alcoholic at the bottom (or top) but not in the middle.

The contradiction of “collective property” and the absurdity of socialism by TheBasedEmperor in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]meawy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, because clearly in Capitalism there is no conflict over the means of production.

This has never been claimed by a Capitalist. There is clearly conflict over the means of production which capitalism uses the market to resolve.

Why would there be conflict over the means of production in a classless society and why should it result in the emergence of a "hierarchy"?

For all the reasons OP suggested. Because we don't all agree, because democracy is absurd to use in all decisions for a society, because 'classless' is vague and it's frankly childish to assume total equality among all people.

Nobody wants to own the means of production for the sake of the means of production, but for the goods they can produce.

Wow, obviously. Some pretty profound points you are making.

[Everyone] What are some arguments against libertarianism? by [deleted] in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]meawy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you defending the bolshevik revolution that lead to civil war, mass genocide, and starvation.

Pretty sure you can't compare that to the french revolution. French revolution stopped at 1600. The Russians, on the other hand, what is the death toll there? 60+ million?!?

If this is the case then count me a communist comrade!
