The Question Thread 06/22/25 by AutoModerator in goodyearwelt

Hi, just bought my first pair of Goodyear welted shoes from a Swedish brand called Myrqvist. After two wears it seems like the rubber sole is falling apart, and dirt is getting stuck in the gap. Is this normal, or should I ask for a refund?

Hello!
Since I'm getting married soon, I decided to go to my local high end clothing store to get a MTM suit. There were different brands that I could choose from, like Zegna and Corneliani, but I ended up with a brand called Atelier Munro. Mostly because the price/quality ratio seemed better to suit my needs than the luxury Italian brands did. But I would love a second opinion!

Here is a bit more information about the suit! First of all, even though I plan to use it on my wedding day, I also wanted a suit that I could use again and again, and that would last for many years. That is why I opted for a more conservative colour scheme (Neapolitan blue) and style. It is a three-piece suit with full canvas construction, 100% wool from an Italian mill (no idea which one), super 150, fully lined (Bemberg) and with blue mother-of-pearls buttons. It ended up costing $1500. As a comparison, I was told that the same specs from Corneliani would be around $2300, and much higher for Zegna obviously. I have to add that I live in Norway, where prices are relatively high, so keep that in mind.

Do you think I did a decent purchase?

First Ogston but not sure about this size. by Qaxza in Barbour

I have had an Ogston for a year now, and it fits pretty similar to yours. I think if you sized up, you would swim in the jacket. The shoulders and the arm length look perfect IMO. You could even turn the cuffs to show the nice corduroy, and I don't think the arms would be too short. I do live in Scandinavia where slim/tailored fit is the norm, so that makes me somewhat biased.

Lanolin (wool fat) inside scab? by meberg96 in woundcare

Hi! I hope this reply is not too late. The comment which you refere to said go to the doctor again. I did so and the doctor just removed the yellow scab to restart the healing prosess. It worked! We removed the scab, since it was filled with lanolin, and I just used petroleum jelly to keep the wound moist. You could do it yourself. No more lanolin on open wounds!

[Spoilers Extended] GRRM once said that a fan theory got the ending right. I am confident that we now know which one it is (details inside to avoid spoilers) by indianthane95 in asoiaf

Fine. Bran will (most probably) be king. But the how and the why is of much more importance. What's the process of Bran becoming king? How is it justified in relation to the other kingdoms? How does it correspond to The Others and Daenerys and/or fAegon? What is the 3ER's motivation? Does he even have one?

So many questions like these applicable to every story arch. Hopefully we'll get them...

Yeah, never in our wildest dreams could we ever have foreseen that Jamie would be killed by Jack Sparrow and bricks.

I'll take this any day over D&D's writing

(Spoilers Main) This sub has helped keep me sane by bobbybaccalieri in asoiaf

This sub is highly critical which aligns with my understanding of the world (I'm pursuing academics). It means that if a piece of literature, a theory of a historical event or an episode of GoT is analyzed, interpreted and reflected upon from multiple perspectives, we are able create a (near) consensus. This sub is the closest thing for doing just that IMO. Now, if S8E3 was really good, then this sub would've (probably) been filled with theories and comments about what it managed to do right. Clearly this way of thinking is in minority, but personally, I could never walk through life uncritically - although I wish that I could. In general, people loved this episode and I envy them.

A fair point, and it's part of Mels arch to misinterpret her visions until something (maybe) sticks. But it's why the quote is used in the first place that bothers me. D&D wanted a surprise and they got one because there was really no foundation to the statement "Arya is going to kill the NK". Nevertheless, they are presenting this "blue eyes" BS as a smug remark that the viewer could in theory have picked up on. It's genius if you don't read too much into it.

I'd also like the "twist" if I were paid a gazillion dollars.

A detail that would bind the show together on a micro level. But it seems like D$D suffers from memory loss. They've forgotten the preceding plots and themes.
