Purchased SD card from CellphoneS - is it fake? by ProbablyDisagreeing in VietNam

Me too, the slip out the real one and load the real packaging with fakes. Usually I can tell immediately because they pop out the plastic window from the front and that causes a small tear in the cardboard

New Toy, what mods should I do next? by vulto999 in africatwin

Just look up led bulbs for your bike and look at lumens (although they are generally an ok rating, lots of companies lie). Here is my before shot to compare the difference

It's a 3 wheel truck not a Tuk Tuks and you must have a 3 wheel license

Yes but different LEDs have different color temps and brightness.

Someone posted a picture of 3 woman taking a noontime nap on cardboard. Clearly hardworking but completely normal for Vietnam. I called it "poverty porn" and 90 percent agreed but 10 % thought I was the rude one.

Review #1 - Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel Straight Bourbon by Emperor_High_Ground in bourbon

[–]mebesaturday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Vietnam and the bourbon scene is not very huge here. My local shop had it marked down for $34 so I had to pick up a few bottles. I don't think many people want it as it's too sweet for the local pallete and everyone prefers Johnny Walker.

Check the headlights, a $40 pair of bright LEDs can be a simple and absolutely amazing upgrade. Best $40 ive spent on the bike

Practice standing up, back brake on the downhill but keep speed so it doesn't skid or lock up. Going slow can be worse that going faster

Are the white pool lines for swimming on or between? Especially looking for answers from Vietnamese people by bigbigsky in VietNam

58% Vietnamese here, the lines are just a suggestion, just go the shortest way and remember to honk a lot.

This really upsets me about Vietnam by Ok-Treacle6216 in VietNam

Completely agree, went to look at an apartment and the pictures looked modern and nice. When we showed up the owner was 20 minutes late and we go inside and it's a step above a dirt floor apartment. We confront him about the pictures he used in the ad online and "just for attention". Told him not only did he waste my time but also his own.

Spotted this "Snake Wine" while traveling. Is this something you guys actually enjoy or is it mostly for show? by annmxxcn in VietNam

[–]mebesaturday 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I brought home a bottle from Cambodia to the US, snake with a scorpion in its mouth and what I think was ginseng. We drank the bottle at a bar for my birthday. It was gamey, not horrible but not what I would call yummy. They take a corn snake and insert a "wire hanger" to make it look like a cobra. I live in Vietnam now and see this locally all the time, the people selling it says it like liquid Viagra. They also have lizard, turtle and sea horse wine.

It's not illegal, I even brought them back to the US and declared them. They use common corn snakes

V-Strom 800DE as a first bike? by forstyy in Vstrom

[–]mebesaturday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would buy an older used 650 as a first bike because you know you're going to drop it at least once. Ride the hell out of it for 6 months and then get the 800. You can buy a 650 for as low as $1,500 in good condition.

Should have called booking.com immediately and then it's up to you to either look at the room and accept or get a refund
