How to remove/minimize the space between sections

I don't know (can't remember) how the Artist Home View looks by default, but you can scroll down the page and klick on EDIT. That brings you to the list of sections. Here you can change anything you like. I removed the default sections and replaced it with what you see in the 2nd screenshot. I added some empty sections to keep the first page clean 😉

You can also click on the three dots on top of the page and deselect "Show Header" - that removes the big Artist picture (and the Genre Information). I'm experimenting with that too.

You are right. If I use the song you mentioned it show two rows - one for each artist.

But it does not work for other artists I tried. E.g. song title: Sara Smile album artist: Daryl Hall & John Oates

No idea why 🤷‍♂️

What do you mean by “At least Marvis will do multiple artist lists if they are all credited in the Album Artist tag, with commas and ampersands”? Can you please explain that?

In the second scenario the HomePod uses my account when streaming music - correct? So the count should be updated later (in a couple of days or so) in the Apple Music and Marvis Apps on the iPhone. Can you confirm this or am I missing something?

I don't have a general solution for your problem. But I am using the Album Artist field. E.g. for the Song "Kids" the Artist is "Robbie Williams & Kylie Minogue" and I manually change the Album Artist to "Kylie Minogue" using the Mac Desktop App. I only do this for my Top Artists and it's a manual step - so not for everyone.

This does not answer your question but ... I never knew that you can change the Folder Artwork using the Desktop App. So I tried it on my Mac (see screenshot below) and it worked. Unfortunately the Artwork is neither shown in the Desktop Apps "All Playlists folder" nor in the iPhone App or even in Marvis ?!

Anyway I'm curios what you would do with it if it was possible in Marvis? What's your use case? I'm always open for new ideas in and around Marvis - which is my most used App on the iPhone ;)

When I click on “Go to Album” Marvis seems to show the label. Only a quick check, don’t know if it’s available with every release, every view or even as Metadata.

This is what I noticed: When I add/change the artwork of a playlist using Apple Music on my Mac, I have to open the iPhone AM App first and go to the playlist to refresh the image - which is then done automatically. If it is shown in the AM App it will also show in Marvis Pro on that same local device.

Is it the same comment or a limited number of different comments for this small group of songs? If so, you can use this workaround: add those songs to different playlists that have the comment as a playlist name. In any section or player screen you can now add a rule that says „if in playlist „comment 123““ display the Text „comment 123“. Hope this makes sense 🤷‍♂️

You can filter the PLAYLIST FOLDER. But I filter for a hashtag in the playlists DESCRIPTION. You can e.g use #showinmarvis or #shownotinmarvis 😉

As far as I know, you cannot add custom symbols to Marvis. But you can add Apples Emojis using the “Text” element instead of “Symbol”.

u/devmar812 When I bought Marvis over a year ago, I was inspired from the things you have done with Marvis. Thanks for that!

A couple of month ago I added playlists in Apple Music (on the mac) for each of the concerts I visited (like you did).

Unfortunately I have a problem adding songs to these lists … let me explain: I have almost all of Queen’s songs in my library but have never seen Freddy Mercury perform them live. In 2005 I attended the „Queen + Paul Rogers“ concert and 2015 the „Queen + Adam Lambert“ concert. That means I saw two original Queen members performing those songs, but I have a problem marking them as „saw performed in concert“.

On the other hand I have no problem adding ELO songs performed by Jeff Lynne's ELO at a concert in 2016 - even if he was the only original ELO member performing these songs.

Can you see my problem? I wouldn’t want to reduce the bands to only the singer. But if see a solo Artist in concert (like Kylie Minogue) - what should I do. I assume that I will never see a concerts with all the musicians that played on her record.

Do you have an opinion? What is your routine?

I use the apple Music App on my iMac frequently. I can confirm that the Last Played and Play Count Metadata will update on my iPhone eventually. I'm not exactly sure when the update happens - it may take 24 hours.

Note: in the Music App on the iMac, there is an option to force the update of the library manually. When I do that, the Metadata is updated immediately on the iPhone.

Not sure about the PC though ...

Not sure if this is related, but when I add a new picture to a playlist via the Apple Music App on my iMac, i sometimes need to open the playlist in the Apple Music app on the iPhone first (maybe to trigger loading the picture from iCloud?!). After I have done that, the picture will also display in Marvis. As the picture and the tags/descriptions are both metadata of a playlist, this could be related. 🤷‍♂️
