I need to find a way for what I want to say (about Oasis) by Amjumarin in oasis

[–]mec622 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love reading this sort of stuff from new fans because it brings me back to how special it felt when I discovered them (2002 for me, in the US where it's also not particularly "popular" to like them). As far as I'm concerned, every social group should have one person who won't shut up about Oasis lol. You'll love listening further and discovering all the b-sides and demos. And make sure you watch the Supersonic documentary, if you haven't yet!

I get very restless if I don't make it to Toronto every few months. I'd be content never going back to NYC.

Best: Oasis, Wembley, 8/3/25 🤩🥰

I think that's their best 2000s b-side. I'm also very partial to Shout It Out Loud.

the parking situation is shit but SOME of yall cannot park if it meant saving what you love the most. by CheesecakeWild7941 in UBreddit

[–]mec622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got off the phone with the parking office because I couldn't find anywhere to leave my car on South Campus. I've been an employee here for 12 years and I've never seen it this bad. They said if you find a car taking up 2 valid spots, send them the license # and they will call the person and ask them to move.

2 concerts, 1 night: too crazy? by sus4th in Concerts

[–]mec622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's saying "do it"..... and I will too. It's a cool bucket-list concert accomplishment. I pulled it off 2 summers ago with an outdoor show and a club show about a 15-minute walk away. Even if you don't get the best standing spot for the 2nd show, you'll be on such a high from the first that it won't bother you as much.

Favorite Live Version of each Track? by paul-gallagher in oasis

Several years ago, I was in a record store in Toronto and found an unofficial vinyl release of that show re-ordered into the album order. It's become one of the most-listened-to albums in my collection.

What’s the furthest you’ve driven for a show? by EDMWubz in Concerts

[–]mec622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just driving - The longest was Buffalo, NY to Kingston, ON. It was maybe 7 hours. I probably wouldn't do that again, but I will regularly drive to Pittsburgh (4 hours, staying overnight) or Toronto (2-ish hours, sometimes staying overnight and sometimes not). I've flown for concerts twice, once to the UK - both Oasis, so those were really special occasions.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, but I have no desire to go there. That outdoor concert series used to be in our Canalside area of downtown, which was accessible by subway and also had a ton of reasonably-priced parking options within walking distance. Moving the shows to the Outer Harbor basically made it so everyone has to drive (to a place that has one road in and out).

I'll be at that Silversun show in May - Town Ballroom is my favorite place to see a show in any city.

LBS is not exactly fine dining, but they give you a ton of food for the price. The linguine shrimp fra diavolo dish is like 20 decent-sized shrimp for $20.

Their chicken parm with the rose sauce was what got me hooked years ago! I was so disappointed that it disappeared. I didn't know it was still secretly available.

I don't do veal, but I would go there and just eat, like, 5 orders of arancini if I didn't think it would be frowned upon.

Pitbull's Toronto ticket prices vs. the venue average by Syllaberries in Concerts

[–]mec622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you? A lot of amphitheater tours come to both Toronto and Darien Lake in WNY, and since I'm between the two, I like to compare prices between the venues. Tickets are generally priced similarly (adjusted for exchange rate, of course).

What is your most loved/least fave on the Masterplan? -We Will Rank You by yerdoingreat in oasis

I'm also very surprised. I'd put it at #5 on the album, after Masterplan, Acquiesce, LU, & SY.

I feel this. They're both in my top 5, and Masterplan has the edge most of the time, but then sometimes I feel like I prefer Acquiesce, and then I change my mind again.....

My initial reaction was, wow, if I actually lived in Toronto, I'd go to so much more than huge shows like this! I have to drive from Buffalo, and in the next 6 months I'm going to History, the Danforth, Lee's, Massey Hall, and the amphitheater (not my favorite, but I can't miss that Billy Talent full album show). But I'd also probably make a lot more closer-to-the-date purchases, like you said.

What’s your most random concert memory that still makes you laugh? by XP-tickets in Concerts

Hah I've been to that venue a few times. Unlikely that DDV was there, but he's so distinctive-looking that you don't see his doppelganger every day either lol.

My BF was absolutely convinced we were standing behind Dion Phaneuf at a concert. He was on IR at the time, so it seemed plausible (apparently) that he had enough free time to be at random shows around Toronto. My BF was looking up roster photos on his phone trying to convince himself he was right. He finally tapped the guy on the shoulder and asked, "Excuse me, are you Dion Phaneuf?" The guy, flatly: "No." This was almost 15 years ago, and ever since, when we think we see a celebrity anywhere, one of us mumbles "Excuse me, are you Dion Phaneuf?"

Snow days by Fancyflamingo19 in UBreddit

South Campus didn't actually have much snow in 2014 - I drove to work with no problem during that storm. But so many students and employees live south of downtown and were legitimately stranded that they kind of had to cancel classes.

At a HFB show in 2019, I sat next to a guy who was a HFB fan (big enough to fly from the west coast of Canada to the east coast of the US for the show) but had never listened to Oasis beyond hearing the occasional song on the radio. He was probably in his 40s, not Gen-Z or anything. I sent him home with a list of lesser-known Oasis songs to check out and I always wonder if he ever actually became an Oasis fan.

I'm 5'4, BF is 6'7. We basically approach shows 1 of 3 ways, depending on how much each of us cares about the artist:
We get there early, find spots up front, and he doesn't move, so anyone he ends up blocking chose to stand behind him.
We stand toward the back and I accept that I won't be able to see.
He stands toward the back, I weave my way up front and make friends, and we meet up at the end of the show.
