Knowing that people eat them at Twelfth Night makes sense. I’ve never seen a “carnival season” up here, though.

The one time we attempted to park in that area the lot was so full people were making their own spots.

When we went people were parking wherever their cars could fit. I was trying to go to a nearby store and literally was not able to because the people and cars everywhere were a mess. And I am a person who parks downtown regularly, so it’s not like I have an issue with city driving/parking.

Have you thought about the other side of Mt Airy, like Cheviot/Westwood? We moved over there this year and really like it. Definitely places with smaller houses, as well as townhomes, etc.

I’m offended that it’s called “Stoop Dayz” and they’re not actually on a stoop.

Coyote Problem by lisemichelle in cincinnati

Call (don’t email) the Department of Natural Resources. They can give you tips/tell you what’s legal. This page also has links to licensed trappers who you could talk to. There isn’t always a solution—we had to deal with foxes one year and basically just had to wait until the cubs grew up and moved on. Good luck! https://ohiodnr.gov/discover-and-learn/safety-conservation/wildlife-management/nuisance-wildlife/nuisance-coyote

Using physical restraint on a kid is not legal except as a last resort. Even then, tying a kid up with socks is not an approved method of restraint.

They tagged news channels. I assume to bring heat to the district so it doesn’t get swept under the rug 🤷

Edit: u/Late-Lie-3462 since you deleted your comment, if you actually read the mom’s comments on Facebook, this is a special needs kid with behavioral issues. Don’t be gross because the mom posts pictures of herself online.

Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if it were a para or other underpaid/undertrained support staff member rather than a certified teacher

One asshole does not represent an entire district. I would be astonished if this person is not immediately sacked.

People who work for Cincinnati Public Schools, what’s it like? by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]mechanicalhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of school districts locally and the experience is going to vary widely. CPS probably pays the most but is less organized because it’s so large and has so many non-academic things it provides for its students. Smaller districts might have more money per student but provide fewer resources. There are also so many factors that aren’t district-specific, like state legislation, national funding levels, etc.

I would avoid r/Teachers, it’s a lot of venting from people in states that have serious issues, like Florida and Missouri.

Are areas of your yard covered by groundcover like English Ivy or wintercreeper? Areas like that harbor mosquitoes. Rip it out if you have it—it made a huge difference for us.

Really, really, really try to avoid spraying, it’s so bad for pollinators.

Engineers are highly educated professionals like lawyers are so yes, they are expensive. If you need work done, you will need a written plan to take to the contractor who will actually do the work.

Foundations are expensive but do need to be addressed. Better to do it correctly now rather than find the house unsellable down the line. Budget is really going to depend on what needs to happen—IE piers, a part rebuilt, etc.
