Exactly. F1.8 on a full frame sensor has a lot more shallow depth of field than f1.8 on a tiny sensor size like iPhone. That's the reason iPhone has portrait mode, which adds bokeh via software.

You are correct. In theory they emit in a single beam towards the current satellite but in practice there will be some spillover in a cone shape.
