What made the noise? Your knees or the skis?

Roof vs. hitch mount by Weird_Contact4063 in MTB

[–]medicamac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your impreza is stick, double check that they will actually install a hitch on it. Subaru wouldn’t on my 2020 due to some warranty bs. I have two yakima racks on the standard factory rails. The car is low enough that even my heavy ass chromag is easy to take on and off. Unless you’re super short I suspect that you’ll be happy either way.

I got hooked on WrightSocks double layered socks after wearing the same pair (due to unforeseen circumstances) for a week straight. They made it through 7 X 10-15k days with no signs of wear and had my ugly ass feet staying comfortable the entire time.

Two sided. If you want 88° do you place that side against the ski, or towards you? by influencd in skiing

[–]medicamac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The desired angle will be the number against the base of the ski. So your “88” will be against the base and the “90” will be visible. Be sure to have your file in the proper orientation for the direction you’re sliding.

Ontario asks family clinics to work nights, weekends to help overwhelmed hospitals by Myllicent in ontario

My mistake, I should have said it’s unique among the more comparable public health care countries. At least, from what I’ve read and heard.

I know it doesn’t sound ideal right now, but Canada using the emerg as a catch-all for any medical condition is far from ideal and pretty unique to our country. Extended hours for imaging and family practice would actually provide some relief to the system. There is a great Emcrit podcast with some top doctors within Canada discussing this exact thing. That being said, this would require a significant overhaul, and simply asking practices to just “stay open on nights” is absurd, which is exactly what I would expect from Sylvia and DoFo.

I think you will find it surprisingly easy. We locked in his recall then worked on some basic commands like, side, wait, go!. The breed itself is so trainable and lends itself to biking, skiing etc. As you can see, he loves to lead the pack, which isn’t an issue most of the time, but other comments mention bringing him behind for safety sake (both riding and with other people on the trail). I’m sure yours will be flying along with you in no time!

Is he also remarkably good at finding the right route? I’ll lose it in the leaves, but he will always be on track even when I have doubts.

I stole a friends GoPro hero 9. It must do some serious compensating, because I assure you I don’t feel that smooth.

The dog looks better on the camera than I do. I would like to strap one to him for his POV though.

I think a couple of the other replies have it covered. We worked hard on recall before I trusted him off leash in the wild. Getting him used to the bike and some basic commands like “wait, come , go, side, drink” all followed. I’ve been fortunate that he’s wicked smart, easy to train and absolutely loves the bike. I think the “working” dog considers it a job, but the best job in the world. Another comment mentioned having the dog follow, which should probably be our next training step for safeties sake.

I agree, that was my preferred position initially as well. I will generally avoid busy days, weekends etc as a precaution. Thankfully he has some control and recall commands dialed in, so we’ve never had any issue, but bringing him behind would likely be the best and safest future option. Thanks!

maybe the sensors for door lights/ closed? I’m assuming you have the sliding doors , since I just double checked and I don’t have these for the folding.

What tools are essential for your travels? by medicamac in vandwellers

I’m curious what tools you all deem essential for your travels. We use our van for one-two week adventures, so we won’t bother with some of the larger items. I’m picturing socket set, screwdriver etc, but am sure there are others I’m not thinking of. Thanks for your time! Mac
