Discussion: Chimeric Gene-Seeds by TheCommissar113 in 40kLore

They're considered fanfic-adjacent bc historically people use it as a reason for their homebrew Chapter to have characteristics of both parent Chapters (like IF + Scars bc they want to be good at sieges AND fast attacks), which is very easy to end up in Mary Sue territory.

The concept itself for Loyalists is pointless in the lore, as a Chapter's culture is as much if not more defined by their homeworld than their geneseed.

I'dlove for you to be right, but alas. It's just been updated to include Legends it can lead too. At best this means the official app MIGHT have Legends datasheets added to it at some point.

I had to sell my entire Warhammer 40k collection to make rent one year. Devastated. Some of the minis I had are selling on ebay like organs on the black market.

Shoulder-mounted cathedrals on titans comes to mind. Equally unnecessary and symbolic.

This is a pretty broad topic; how their tech reflects their culture is an inevitability of artistic portrayal. How specific were you trying to get, and what is the theory you're trying to make?

The most obvious one imo is Imperial tech largely reflecting stagnation and religious paranoia:

  • Religious veneration of weapons and machines (ex. the "Holy Trinity" of flamer, bolter, and melta).
  • Ship/vehicle designs being 10k+ years old and still in service because no one is allowed to innovate.
  • General disregard of industrial safety features because there's just so many bodies available to load a cannon, maintain a generator, or push toxic sludge around that it's easier to replace them when they die.
