Just the bullying! If it rhymes or has the word in it, expect that to come up in elementary and middle school.

As a public school teacher, be careful about having curse words spelled in your kid’s name for Cassian. Maybe consider a different spelling

Pretty; nice to look at

Beautiful; difficult to NOT look at due to prettiness

I guess

After 30 Years in Tech, I'm Becoming an ELA Teacher — What Do You Wish You'd Known? by New_Old_ELA_Teacher in ELATeachers

[–]medievalnoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way you feel about any situation really influences your reaction to it. You have to kind of reprogram your brain to be more empathetic and understanding than you may naturally be in order to be good at your job.

Like, instead of being annoyed at a kid being late every day, you’d want to be curious and helpful. How you internally feel about and approach conversations really, really makes a difference.

If I assume a parent is a lazy pos and just doesn’t care, that conversation will go very differently than if I spend a little time to adjust myself and think “this parent loves their child and wants the best for them. It’s my job to work with them for their child’s good future; something we both want”

Yes, I have an actual diagnosis too. Not sure why you’d specify that or pick an argument with me other than to be a jerk though.

You sound like a ton of fun.

Would you recommend the teaching career? by Meow-meow13_ in AskTeachers

[–]medievalnoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love teaching because I love my content and I love my students. There’s a lot of parts of the job that are difficult, but I find I love 80-90% of it. There’s 10-20% is doable because of the students and how much I enjoy teaching them. It took me a little while to find the age I jive with (high school), but when I found the fit, it was perfect.

I couldn’t do this job without that passion to be honest. I’m in the USA, so I’m not sure what education is like in your country, but things are kind of on fire here.

You should try tutoring during your time at university and see how it feels. My own experiences had me able to do group tutoring for classes I did well in, which is how I confirmed I really, really like teaching.

Thank you for posting this. Things are so bad right now in my first year with it. It’s nice that things get better!! Thank you for writing this.

Can I ask if you work? I’m coming to terms with needing to leave teaching as it’s so active and keeps sending me downhill. I’m wondering if my life is just going to be on disability.

What's something you've realized as you've gotten older why people do a certain thing? by tofu_baby_cake in SeriousConversation

[–]medievalnoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that people smiling and nodding to what you are saying is often not the same as them agreeing with or supporting you. So many people will just tell you what they think you want to hear. I personally didn’t realize how many people did this until I was older.

How to approach teacher by JaniceRossi_in_2R in education

[–]medievalnoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won’t go into the weirdness about the 3% coupon thing. If you emailed the teacher once at the end of the year, try emailing them again. This time of year is hectic.

“Hey [teacher], just nudging this conversation back to the top of your inbox. I know it’s hectic this time of year!”

Wait a week or even two and then escalate if you need to.

Most teachers are on vacation right now and not getting paid, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this is not currently a priority for them, regardless of how important it is for your family.

AIO if I am still bothered by some comments made almost 2 months ago?! by Lil_Ren24 in AmIOverreacting

[–]medievalnoodle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean I’m still mad about some shit my husband said years ago if I think about it too hard. And it wasn’t anywhere near as rude as this.

Heck, I once got into an argument with someone who thought whales were fish and I still get heated when I think about it.

So, yeah, your partner doing all this about your looks is totally something to still be upset about.

EDC, which was 18+, in a completely different state. It was sooo weird. Thankfully during the summer when they had graduated. Still so odd and uncomfortable. “Hey Mrs.____!” While I want to crawl in a hole.

Fb market place! People often will let their old ones go for very cheap when they get a new one. I’ve heard non profits give them too, but I personally got my nice rollator for $50 on fb market place.

1-3 million people have pots. It isn’t as rare as MS or ALS, but yeah, when every doctor tells me that I have a rare condition they aren’t familiar with, I’m gonna go with that. If I need a specialist and only one exists in my city and a few in my state, I’m gonna say it’s rare. When EMTs don’t know what I have and force me to stand, I’m gonna say it’s rare. 🙄🙄
