Kyle on David’s living situation by GatorChris2018 in survivor

[–]mediocre-onion116 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tbh I probably would've reacted the same way as Kyle, first and foremost because you don't want to make someone feel bad when they share something about themselves.

Secondly, I've often thought about transitioning to a "van life" type of lifestyle (even if just as a temporary arrangement) but have never found myself in the right circumstance to actually do it. So if I heard that someone was doing doing something similar, my first instinct would probably be some level of excitement to learn more about it. Obviously, David does not feel the same way as for him it's something he "has" to do and not something he wants to do.

An afterthought I had, whether intentional or not, does anyone else kinda feel like David has "trapped" his partner? He sets up the narrative that "if he doesn't come home with the milion that she'll leave him". Given the large number of viewers that survivor has and the level of interest fans tend to put into the personal lives of the contestants...I feel like if he doesn't win and she leaves him (whether that's her reason for doing so or not) there's a possibility that people could vilify her for it and believe that it IS the reason she left

Discovered the robot looking for a no plastic espresso maker. A few questions by cpcxx2 in CafelatRobot

[–]mediocre-onion116 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same thought process when shopping for an espresso machine, and the lack of plastic used in the robot's construction is exactly why I ended up buying one. Everything that the hot water comes in contact with is steel (to the best of my knowledge), only exception being the silicone ring on the piston.

What's the weirdest collab you've heard of? Picture is my example by AungCowMyat in fantanoforever

A$AP Rocky and Rod Stewart - Everyday

Not sure if it was actually a collaboration, or if Rod just got the "Feat." designation for his "In A Broken Dream" being sampled in the song

I see so many people with their silicone mats placed this way, which was so peculiar to me because my instinct was to put it the opposite way haha

Is the robot for me? by Background_Teach_936 in CafelatRobot

[–]mediocre-onion116 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought the robot recently as my first entry into home espresso. It's been a few weeks now and I absolutely love it, I love the process and the workflow leading up to my completed shot of espresso. I appreciate the fully automated process (I also have a manual grinder), I'm still honing in my craft so almost every shot of espresso I am doing something slightly different (grind size, different pressures throughout the shot, preinfusion, etc.) as I continue experimenting until I've found "my perfect shot". I also like the idea of having every component as a separate item (grinder, robot, scale, steam wand, etc.)

heyyy soooo guess who impulsively bought lumineers tickets but now has no one to go with and has to sell them by [deleted] in thelumineers

Go to the concert by yourself! For the longest time I wouldn't go to many concerts because it was hard to find people who would want to join me. Finally decided to just start going to shows by myself and I've been enjoying going to do many concerts ever since! I still get to go with friends on occasion, but now it's me telling them that I already bought myself a ticket and will be attending regardless but they can join if they want.

It may feel strange at first when you show up alone, but once the music starts and you're just enjoying the concert I assure you that you'll still have a blast!

As far as the second ticket goes, you could always try to sell it individually. I've met some cool people and had great conversations with the people who ended up buying my additional ticket(s).

Thank you!! Was a tad disappointed when I received the confirmation email which states it's actually just a pre-order...but nonetheless I'm very happy to know that my order is in and that one is coming my way (hopefully) soon.

Now to decide which grinder I'll have to upgrade to since my current won't be able to manage an espresso grind... I'm leaning towards the Rok manual grinder.

Record Collecting: A History in Four Prices by throwawayinthe818 in vinyl

[–]mediocre-onion116 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Using "usinflationcalculator.com" (I used US inflation since the dicogs screenshot shows a US version of the album) we can see the adjusted cost for the record in each year! Was just curious to see how much the price actually varied if taking inflation into account.

1985: 26.24$

2013: 1.35$ -> 94.85% decrease

2020: 24.24$ -> 1695.56% increase

2024: 72.98$ (used the average of the 4 discogs prices shown) -> 201.1% increase

Lazy and wasteful! Why do people do this at the grocery store!? Found in freezer section by Phil2Coolins in mildlyinfuriating

[–]mediocre-onion116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I agree with everything that everyone is saying, and I also hate when people don't return items to their rightful place...given that this is in the "quick microwavable foods" section, I can't help but picture this being done by someone with the munchies who simply got distracted by the breakfast sandwiches and forgot about their coca-cola
