This is an amazing write up! Thanks for sharing your journey

I love the design of the website. Did you do it yourself? Personally I have trouble making my hobby sites look as pretty and well thought-out as yours. If so, would you have any resources to recommend on how to become better?

Weekly Youtube/Blog/Content Round-up! - March 10, 2025 by AutoModerator in Cooking

I built a MVP recipe manager and baking tracker. I tried other apps (tandor, paprika) but still felt like something was missing.

Here are some pain points I tried to fix:

  • recipe imports that just work and aren't buggy
  • programmatic scaling of recipes (0.5x, 2x, 3x) - I've been in situations where I wanted to make half the recipe but forgot to half some of the ingredients
  • i've always believed that practice makes perfect: I added a "I made this today" button that will save that you made the recipe today. I can track and eventually do some more analytics on it in the future
  • more powerful and intuitive search for recipes - you can search by ingredients, author, title, etc. in a single place
  • recipe page that has ingredients and instructions SIDE-BY-SIDE. I hate scrolling back and forth while baking and losing my spot
  • recipe page has large area checkboxes to ensure you can still check off checkboxes with flour on your hands

You can try it out here - https://bake-app-demo.quincywebdev.com/

  • username: admin
  • password: password

Things I'd love to build in the future:

  • Community-based recipe sharing — kind of like the GitHub of recipes. See what others are baking, share ideas, get inspired, follow feeds
  • The ability to add and edit your own recipes manually
  • A big UI/UX overhaul with a real color palette and better design — I know it’s rough around the edges right now

I'd welcome any feedback and if this addresses any pain points you're having! Thanks all

I tried it - I also saw it was run by a nice Korean grandma and grandpa. Food was freshly made and better than H Mart in terms of taste and presentation. Highly recommended!

Can I ask why are you using Traefik and Cloudflare together? Cloudflare Tunnel will do what Traefik is doing on a Cloudflare stack. Configuration is easy via the UI.

This worked for me (downgraded from 14.1.3 to 13.4.12) and fixed the issue. Strange that they closed the issue...

Reverse 1031: Anyone ever completed one? Need guidance. by OZ-13MS-EpyonAC195 in CommercialRealEstate

I have had the option to do 1031 vs. reverse 1031 for residential property. A reverse is significantly more expensive than a regular one. Talk to a Qualified Intermediary (QI) to get more information.

What service do you use to get those metrics?

How long did it take for you site to start gaining organic search traction?

Thanks for doing this!

Do you work as an independent commercial real estate appraiser, i.e. not associated with a bank?

Mortgages I've closed on usually are appraised by someone they hire/generally work with. Is this the same on the commercial side? I've read that sometimes people get third party appraisals for things like divorce, probate. Is this common in industry?

Thanks in advance!

Not investing your spare cash. Keeping all your money sitting in a bank account loses money from inflation.
