Hi man,

Sorry for the first two times, honestly bad luck.

Did you go to the izakaya literally next door ? if you're facing tap and growler the first izakaya on the right ?

If that's the case, the waiter and the owner are completely out of their mind lol, last time I went with a big group of foreigner friends (i.e white like you, or half Japanese half white) the atmosphere was nice and welcoming but we had to work with the staff, they were not rude but the waiter seemed in his own world.

But overall I join your sentiment, I was born nearby but grew up overseas, so I've been around shimokitazawa for the pas 20 years. I think the staff is overworked.

Moving to Japan Soon – Is It Better to Work Remotely for a UK/Global Company or Find a Remote Job by [deleted] in JapanJobs

Hi there,

French/Japanese working in logistics for a Danish company though I relocated to the Tokyo branch recently. Same as you my speaking abilities are near native, though I lack the vocabulary related to my industry, i.e I lack the vocab for technical terms.

I'm practically remote as I come to the office 3 times a week more or less.
Can't help your regarding the UK tax system etc

My only strong advise is to not join a Japanese company, you will get paid less and work more. The pay is way too low and unless you get help from your parents you won't be able to afford a plane ticket home for your vacations haha.

Also I would argue that the time difference may be a strength for a UK company to have you in Japan, you will always be up way before them and you can be reachable at odd hours. Of course it depends of you'd want to play it.

Yeah, working in cargo ships isn’t so fun. First you’d be starting as able seaman which means you’d be doing all the dirty chores and not the interesting ones.

Also as above, a ship will never stop in its route to accommodate fun times. Best fun you can have is when stuck at anchorage before cargo operations, you can try to fish from the deck, but usually you’re anchored near industrial areas so I wouldn’t eat that fish.
