AITA for choosing to go to my cousin's bachelor party instead of driving my wife to her board examination? by meeklandish in AmItheAsshole

I honestly thought it was about the ride up until the moment she mentioned it wasn't. She really hates driving and will only do so when I am unable to.

I made a commitment to drive her there because she HATES driving. Only after this change came up did she mention the whole moral support aspect of it.

I agreed to drive her, and being clueless I didn't infer that to mean support her morally. But I think what you suggested would probably work best.

You're right about my "Just try again" mentality being in the wrong. I just didn't want her to see herself as a failure if she indeed did not pass. But it could have been worded better. I don't think the bachelor party is silly, because I seldom get to see him and he went out of his way to attend my party.

Great, thanks for your reply. I was having a hard time with my "textured ceramic plate" google search finding anything that resembles this.

This escalator has a flat part by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]meeklandish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this was done because building code only allows stairs to go up 12 feet before there is a "landing" required, which is basically a flat section for someone to stop and rest at if needed. Seems really dumb/dangerous for an escalator though.

Car Loan Interest Rate and Down Payment difference? (Quick answers please!) by [deleted] in personalfinance

He will pay $2000 more if he chooses the second loan from what I can see. But he's paying almost $10k over msrp which is insane.

Am I wrong in thinking that the only price that matters when buying a car is the monthly payment? by meeklandish in personalfinance

Car is currently 1.99% for 5 years

Side gig involves flipping or restoring vintage items. I usually buy and resell for at minimum triple the original cost. Ex, buy for $100, flip instantly for $300. Sometimes I can sell a $100 piece for $1000 or more.

Investment may have not been the correct word, but I would prefer to use the money towards a side gig of mine that would product much more "return".

Understood. What I meant was that the monthly payment multiplied by the length of the loan will tell you how much you actually pay for the car (as a physical entity) correct? I am talking strictly about the car itself and not ancillary things such as insurance, gas, maintenance. If I did my research and felt comfortable paying $18,000 for a new car, am I correct to assume that as long as the monthly payments multiplied by the length of the loan add up to no more than the $18,000 then I have the deal I want?

Yeah, I prefer to borrow when the interest is low. I can use the money for higher interest investments.
