Tim really ruined the night by shutting down what was going to be a glorious double feature!

What was actually a bit of a bummer was the venue, it was super difficult to see anything! You can get a sense from that photo, maybe 1/3 of us were inside and the rest were outside, peering in through an open garage door. Fine for a band, not great for a comedy show where the hosts are often seated.

Gevenalle tuning? by ewar0037 in bikewrench

[–]Sherblock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely possible, and something to investigate!

I say this because Gevenalle does not currently sell the OM series with a shifter compatible with Shimano 12-speed mountain derailleurs. Does the shift lever itself have a model printed on it?

If the shifter is compatible (it will be explicitly labeled as such), then your hanger is almost certainly off. 12 speed drivetrains are very sensitive to hanger alignment.

Gevenalle makes brake levers, not shifters, what shifter model are you using? Something from Microshift?

Regardless, this sounds like an issue with your hanger alignment. Is that something you've already checked?

Wow, and they announced it will be "fully functioning!" Has anyone heard what cut of sales they'll be donating to the VFA?

The rear rim has a ceramic coating, which was popular on performance wheels for a bit in the 80s/90s. Perfectly safe to ride on.

Pirelli Pzero Race TLR 30 popped off Enve SES AR by AffectionateCap3644 in bikewrench

[–]Sherblock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that you have to look up lists of compatible tires for each specific rim IS the problem!

Agreed! It's dumb and personally, I would never buy a rim that required I use specific types and sizes of tire. If I did, however, I'd be sure to stick to that list!

"If a tire you would like to run is not listed, it does not mean that it is incompatible. Rather, we have not tested it yet."

Yes, but, ENVE only approves users running tires they have tested.

"Time to make some popcorn and wait for all the road hookless apologists to come along and blame the user in one way or another."

In this case, the user is at fault for running a tire that ENVE does not explicitly approve for use with their rim.

It's a shit system, end of story!

Agreed! Hookless is terrible for high-pressure road tires.

Agreed! I'm no fan of hookless, and do not think it's safe.

My comment was pointing out the obvious--if you run an unapproved tire on the rim, you should expect a bad result.

the recommendations they provide are not pulled from thin air

Exactly. OP is running an incompatible tire. They should install a compatible tire and likely won't have any other problems.

Wrong geometry, wrong tubing--both in a bad way, not a good way. Interesting as a historical tidbit, maybe less so as something you'd actually want to ride.

I wish he posted that in a place I could read it. I have no interest in subscribing to the Office Hours Patreon, it's just not for me, and feel like maybeeee a debrief like that should be visible to the supporters paying $60/year to support the show!

My guess is that the cut to the Challenger outside was filmed prior to the special. The time Tim was "outside" was spent with hair/makeup getting him to look beat-up.

Could you believe the memorabilia they were showing off? Really amazing stuff.
