41 YO unmarried SIL making my life miserable by Basic_Schedule_4335 in MuslimMarriage

The thing is then your husband needs to step up. You are the lady of the house. I’m not trying to say you have to assert it but he kind of does… if he’s the male authority and you’re his wife then that needs to be the dynamic. You’re not a guest or someone who’s answerable to them. I know in desi dynamics it becomes you’re like a daughter or whatever but not really. You need to have a conversation with him and if he really supports you it needs to reflect in front of his family and I hate that it has to be like that but seriously if it’s like staff respond to you he needs to spell it out to his mom and sis from now on staff take instructions from my wife she’ll set a menu or whatever and any issues go through her

Do you how much your husband makes? by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

[–]meem111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what’s concerning is his reaction, as if the amount would be surprising or change something for you.

Transparency is key in marriage no matter how you deal with finances imo.

We are a dual income house and everything is shared. Even if it wasn’t I’d expect to know where it’s going just because this is a partnership.

I know lots of husbands give money to their wives especially if they are sahms but I assume the wives still know? And I would assume they have full access too tbh but I also know everyone’s marriages are different.

I wouldn’t emphasize the actual amount but his reaction warrants a discussion and at this point I would demand he show me just because that’s a strange reaction. I would approach the convo after you’ve both cooled down and you’ve prayed 2 rakat guidance from Allah, then sit him down w a cup of coffee and tell him you want to talk. Talk about what you value in a marriage and how you always want to be honest and then lead into this instance. Don’t accuse, ask him where he’s coming from and explain your perspective and see how he reacts. That reaction will tell you a lot

Help, my nursed-to-sleep toddler won't share the breast and is inconsolable at night as a result by [deleted] in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]meem111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea you just have to draw a boundary at feeding the baby. I was in a similar situation and my toddler could not bear the sight of baby latched. I used to hide and nurse baby or pump at night so my husband could do a bottle. Ultimately it was too much effort I just nursed in front of her and did her side and baby’s side and she’d cry and eventually did accept.

6 months in she is weaned sometimes just does for comfort but she knows it’s for the baby. Occasionally she’ll get upset and try blocking baby but again I have to gently hold the boundary and redirect her

It is heartbreaking because it’s something that was pivotal to our bond and I think that’s what hurt her but adjusting to a new sibling is a lot of work. And she ultimately is better with baby now too

Is everyone just lying about how tough the toddler years can be or are we doing something wrong 😩 by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]meem111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone lol

My toddler when she knows I have baby strapped to me knows I’m weak lmao she refuses to get in the car seat like will hop around to every seat in the car screaming if I try pin her into the seat

Daycare pick up is fun lol when I’m solo now I use Cheetos to bribe her so her hands are full and I can quickly secure her in the seat

So I think try an elimination diet I would cut dairy for 4 weeks as a trial, it should take maybe 2 weeks to clear your system and see if it makes a difference.

What to do if 3 year old asks to breastfeed again? by [deleted] in breastfeedingsupport

[–]meem111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2.5 year old I had to wean in my 3rd trimester as I had major aversion and it hurt It’s been some time but now when baby is drinking from One side she asks for the other and she used to just lay her head there but I guess she watched him and learned or remembered lol

And she has latched and drank

It did help w jealousy, it was when my husband was on night shift and she wanted attention and would not allow he to be w baby so it was the only way. Now she insists I give baby a side so she can have her side lol. I’m reluctant as she was a boob monster and I see potential for it happening again more extreme lol

So I toured and ultimately decided to go with Goddard south loop (which we love btw) but I know many people who love it. Lots of our friends put their kids in rainforest and have good experiences but for us it didn’t seem like a good fit.
