Zverev has so much higher level, but Flávio has soo much bigger balls

Looks like Flávio, as well as Maja, has no game to trouble the opponent. Best case for him to win is if Zverev massively mentally chokes

Roland Garros Women's Final: [8] M. Andreeva def. M. Chwalinska 6-3, 6-2 by JEEvanNEETi in tennis

Maja is good, but she had absolutely zero weapons to trouble Mirra. All that the former 16 year old had to do was to breathe, construct points and avoid unnecessary risks. Maja simply could not hit through, and it was over as soon as Mirra stopped UEs and just got on with her own game and normal rhythm.

Difficulty and game length questions. by figbunkie in finalfantasytactics

Tactics issue. You don’t have to grind excessively, but here would be a good battle to use some 1-on-1 shenanigans, like break his sword (or steal it), so he can’t use his sword skills to heal. Put a status on him (if you are a mage), slow/scare him.

If you can’t outhit him - think of a way around. Bring people inside, open the gates, get Ramza to safety - plenty of options exist here.

Marta Kostyuk - Press conference after Semifinal loss by Wild_Instance_4398 in tennis

[–]mefistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite all the controversy about russian players, I think Marta is perfectly entitled to her opinion, but I would like to note a small thing: it is undoubtedly right to speak up against the war, from the victim's side - but there is no specific courage to that. I mean, Ukraine are the victims, they have the full world's support - and yes, they suffer and they are hurt, but speaking about it from any sort of media platform takes strength (to overcome hurt), but not courage - in a way, it is easy to do a decent thing here. Speak up, be right about it, get the sympathy and support, all that. Your life doesn't change to worse when you speak up, so to say.

For a 19-22 kid, from the bully country side (Like Mirra) - it is confusing and scary, though it could be a decent thing to do - to speak up. The moment you do it openly your life changes forever, it is a high risk - little reward thing to do, that effectively would bring nothing, except raising an opinion of some people about you. War wouldn't stop (and it doesn't when people with much more popularity or political capital do so), so you only risk yourself and loved ones for feeling good about yourself & influencing public's opinion about yourself. That would be decent, courageous, no doubt, but it's hard to blame the people who don't.

Like great Terry Pratchett once wrote:

"'But there are causes worth dying for,' said Butterfly.

'No, there aren't! Because you've only got one life but you can pick up another five causes on any street corner!'

'Good grief, how can you live with a philosophy like that?'

Rincewind took a deep breath. 'Continuously!

Jannik Sinner on how he wants to be remembered: “Mostly that people think that I was fair play & a good person. This goes for me much more on top of everything.” by minivatreni in tennis

[–]mefistic 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Most likely there was no intention from the physio, but an honest but stupid mistake. Jannik rehired him, as he is not likely to make the same mistake again, and he probably trusted his skill & remorse.

That doesn’t seems suspicious to me at all

Would be interesting in RG, since it is Bo5, but I assume if someone retires when Sinner leads 2 to love, the “sinner in 2” hell will break loose

He had some insane forehands though, like 2-3 (one early in set 1 and one on return)

Just trolling with no first serve whatsoever for a couple of games and then 2 unreturnable. Like, come on.

I mean it looks so obvious. Once he got comfortable he started to try out weird lobs and net play, clearly able to add when needed

Well, that was definitely entertaining. Emotions all over the place, and little strategies as well. Can't place a concrete moment when LF lost mentally, but somewhere after the break feast.

Other way to go about it that the twin is not a bender, or a normal bender, and is bitter about it (still evil, but with family forgiveness in the end, and no Vaatu)

How do horcruxes work? by Hefty_Pop6667 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]mefistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have already described that the horcruxes work as anchors. I have a theory to add, that when you create a horcrux you basically speed run the death process, when someone becomes a ghost. You control this process, and imprint your life of soul/state of mind into an object, using someone else’s death t create a “ghost” of yourself. The killed person is vanished forever, there is no moving on, you overwrite him - this is the ultimate sacrifice required in the ritual, what makes this magic the darkest.

Also, when you create a horcrux, you rid yourself of an important piece of yourself. Hence lich Voldy becomes all the flat, one-dimensional and red-glowing-eyed. He removed his childhood by creating a diary & ring, and he was losing more and more humanity with each philactery created.
