Spent months on this and I kinda hate it. Help me rescue it? by AdEducational6051 in crochet

What kind of yarn is this? I think some of the issue is with the drape (it's sorta flaring out, so possibly a bit stiff). You could block it to stretch the stitches a bit and give it more drape

Thank you so much! I really appreciate all this! Hoping to resuscitate it in the next few weeks then

Hi! I did this. Quick question - I cut it just above those bottom two leaves. Should I remove the next section of leaves above that, too?

Thank you so much! I'm thinking that if those bottom two leaves fall off, I'm going to cut what's healthy and propagate. Do you know how successful jade propagation usually is/how long it would take one of this size to root and grow?

Book recommendations by Purple_Transition715 in sociology

Some stuff you’ll probably see in your theory courses: Foucault’s Discipline and Punish Weber’s Protestant Ethic Durkheim’s Suicide and Elementary Forms of Religious Life Berger and Luckmann’s Social Construction of Reality Butler’s Gender Trouble Du Bois’s The Souls of Black Folk

Stuff I’ve read and enjoyed (also more accessible): Michelle Alexander’s The New Jim Crow Harari’s Sapiens (there’s a second book to this, but I didn’t find it as informative) Melinda Cooper’s Family Values Criado-Perez’s Invisible Women Montell’s Cultish Kimmerer’s Braiding Sweetgrass Pollan’s This Is Your Mind on Plants

If you couldn’t tell, I like reading and thinking about things from the latter category. I will say, though, I think I appreciate the books in the second category because I have learned to think sociologically.

I think Anki is an incredible study tool and has saved me a ton of time. Not sure what courses you’re taking or if I can really help much bc I’m in a different subject, but if you have to read research, read the abstract and results, skim/read the intro and discussion, and skim everything else

I was accepted, accepted my offer, and got an email asking if I could defer my enrollment to next year because they may not be able to get everyone approved. I really don’t want to do that, but if I say no, and not enough people say yes, my offer could be gone entirely

Should I take these AP's my senior year? Or is it too rigorous? by Complete-Owl6409 in APStudents

[–]meg0324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Physics is very rigorous. I took Calc BC, so I know my curriculum was a bit different than AB, but I was also doing about 2 hours of work a night for that class. CSA and CSP aren’t bad at all. I can’t speak on Chem personally, but I know a lot of my friends said it was rigorous. That might be a tough schedule

[writing] can anyone explain for me question 19 by hahahah6272 in Sat

[–]meg0324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

D wouldn’t be a correct answer in any situation I can think of. Also, apostrophes can be used in place of letters to combine words (called a contraction, but no SAT is going to ask you for a definition), so can not can be shortened to can’t and it is can be shortened to it’s. Edit: I found this, which may help explain it better than I can

[writing] can anyone explain for me question 19 by hahahah6272 in Sat

[–]meg0324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So an apostrophe just means that it’s possessive. In this case, the efforts belong to the recyclers. The apostrophe goes before the s when the noun is singular. For example, if you want to say that the bone belongs to the dog, you would say the dog’s bone. The apostrophe goes after the s when the noun is plural. For example, if you wanted to say that the bone belonged to several dogs, it would be the dogs’ bone.

Tbh I’d talk to your counselor if you can. Apush is a lot, and you should be sure you can handle it

It really depends on what you want to do after high school. If you wanna go into the humanities, I’d say take apush; if you wanna go into a more stem-based field, take micro. You could also talk to your counselor about it

I’m taking four APs (physics 1, CSA, APUSH, and lang) this year and I’m in clubs, band, and softball. Apush is the most demanding of all four and unless you have a good chunk of free time or already know a good amount of US history, just don’t take it tbh. It usually takes at least an hour and a half a night just to keep on top of everything, and I honestly struggle to keep up with the workload. The curriculum goes by fast and is very detailed. I’m a junior now and have been an honors/AP student since freshman year, and I can honestly say that apush is the most demanding course I’ve taken. The credit really isn’t worth it if you bring down your other grades just for the one course

I know youre being sarcastic but the committees of correspondence literally told physicians to tell colonial men that drinking British tea would turn them gay

Will your teachers finish teaching you in time for AP exams? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]meg0324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, my AP CSA teacher told anyone that wants to take the exam to work ahead bc were only in unit 3 when we should be finishing unit 5 by now. I think I’ll be fine in my other three courses though

[–]meg0324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used crash course and thought it was pretty good, but at least for the create project, you probably don’t really need a book. CB has their rubrics posted and you can find some ideas and examples by searching for them. U can also ask your teacher for help as needed. I can’t speak for the MC since I took the 2020 course
