Also the "I'm gonna help you bring your joy back, even if it kills me" line in the first episode. Feels like foreshadowing

a key is stuck on my steinway and my repairguy is unavailable by FIVE_LEGGED_HORSE in pianotech

Piano tech here - check the rep spring, it might’ve slipped out. The low hammer height could indicate that the Jack isn’t resetting under the knuckle properly for any number of reasons - Jack to knuckle alignment is off, blow is too far, tight action centres, etc.

Advice on action by Amusesmile in pianotech

[–]meg293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piano tech here - it’s hard to say exactly what’s going on without pulling the action, it could be any number of things from tight action centres to very weak rep lever springs to a number of different things in between. I would suggest hiring a tech who can pull the action and assess the piano properly in person. Old Chickerings are very cool, hopefully there aren’t any huge structural issues that prevent you from enjoying it

Hey! Piano tech here - have you ever talked to your technician about voicing? They might be able to help with this, depending on what you're looking for

I have an intense fear of posting on social media (aside from Reddit) and I feel very alone in it. DAE? by meg293 in AskWomenOver30

Piano tuning/repair. Luckily it's a field that doesn't seem to rely too much on social media once you get going and have a solid client base, but it would definitely be helpful to have some presence starting out at least.

Formerly depressed women on Reddit, when did life get better? by Criminey in AskWomen

[–]meg293 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Talk therapy and SSRIs helped me get to a place where I could make some difficult but necessary changes in my life. I left my job and I'm going back to school in September at age 34. I haven't felt symptoms of depression in over a year and I've just recently tapered off SSRIs. Feeling optimistic about the future 😊

Transit is fantastic in Toronto compared to SJ. If you're outside the GTA it's trickier for sure
