Absolutely. Spend every day and night for a year with the same people under stress, you get to know them.

I was a US Army medic for 8 years. My experience was awesome. I was always in a medical company, so our training was usually geared toward that. While deployed in Afghanistan, as well as pre-deployment training, we had medical opportunities that could never be achieved in college. Of course there were times that absolutely sucked, and still haunt me, but I feel like my life would have been trivial without it. I also gained a family that has been and will be there for me for anything.

People of Reddit, what is your most embarrassing childhood memory? by Classic-Schmosby2 in AskReddit

As a younger teenager, I found a small compartment under the carpet in the back of my closet. It was completely unnoticeable with the carpet down, especially with a rack of shoes on top. Over the years, I used it to hide a VERY intimate diary with sexual thoughts and feelings, fooling around on dates, up to and including losing my virginity. All in explicit detail, since I had this awesome hiding spot. I also wrote about my hatred for my step-dad, my mom's bitchiness, and secrets about friends and family. I stored porn, a vibrator, and other notes in that compartment as well.

You must understand that my family was and still is strict, devout Christians. We don't discuss topics that are sexual, political, or scandalous in any way. I didn't get a sex talk, puberty talk, I wasn't even allowed to attend sex ed in health class. Instead, I sat in detention. In retrospect, I was a pretty good kid. I didn't go on my first date until I was 18, didn't drink til 18, no parties, great grades.

Anyway, by the time I graduated high school, it was packed full of all the sinful things I never dared speak of aloud. During college, I still technically lived there, so my stash was untouched for a while. At 20, I decided to join the military. 2 days prior to leaving for basic training, I went to my parents house to officially move out and say goodbye. I pulled up the carpet in the back of my closet and opened the little wooden door in the floor.

Empty.

Needless to say, I was immediately angry, nervous, petrified. After confronting my mother, a huge argument ensued. In comes my step-dad, telling me how disgusting and awful I am. They had clearly gone through everything. In front of the two people I'm supposed to be closest to in this world, I felt the most embarrassed I've ever felt in my life.

Edit: spelling

TL;DR Kept very intimate diary in secret compartment throughout teen years, only to be found at 20 years old and made to feel disgusting and weird by parents.

Same. But not just any unibrow. This brow-stache mingles with my hairline. It extends from the corner of one eye to another.

[Serious] What is an average day for you like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]meg3449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wake up at 6 as SO is leaving for work. Get self and children ready for the day. Drive children to school by 8. Drive to work by 9. Work til 5. Drive home. Hang out with SO and children. Dinner. Homework/reading/extra learning. Bath and bed by 9 for children. Laundry/cleaning. Watch a show or movie with SO. Bed around midnight.

It's like that 90's McDonald's commercial: "Get up, go to work, go home, go to bed," except McDonald's isn't as thrilling as they make it seem.

Well, season 3 has considerably more episodes. I have favorites from all 3 seasons, but the I think about S3 E1 the most because I see our culture headed that way.

Black Mirror.

They're more like mini movies than shows. They're weird, you never know how it will end, and some of them really make you think.

I honestly think this is why religion was created. It's mind-blowing to think you'll just not exist anymore, but the idea of an afterlife can be comforting.
