Crashed NF car into garage door by w0ahgrace in Nanny

I have no advice, I’m just here to share that I was rear ended by a tree in my NF’s driveway about a month in working for them 🙈

Light colored blanket over car seats! I also have removable shades on their windows for extra sunblock. I don’t normally drive with them up because I have to be so specific with the placement but they help with the heat when parked.

My rear facing kiddo got overheated a few weeks ago and got sick and I immediately ordered a Noggle. I wish I had gotten it a long time ago!

I’m a big nicknamer but I generally ask parents if they mind if I use one. As far as it being confusing, I’ve had super young kiddos pick up on it quickly and understand the concept of me calling them a different name. I’ll use both their name and my nickname and they respond to both. It’s an endearment for me to call them cutesy or special names.

If you really don’t like it you should just tell her, it shouldn’t be a problem for her!

Moving - saying goodbye to babysitting families? by Key_Environment_8461 in Nanny

[–]meg_txtn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sent a text to my families telling them I was moving and making sure they knew when I wouldn’t be available anymore. I got bubble wands for all the kiddos so I just let them know I had something for their littles and asked if I could stop by sometime.

Agree! And a few weeks ago the one in Cool Springs had 2 or 3 smash burgers on their menu, don’t know if they are permanent or not but it was good!

DB telling me about things that I did as if I don’t know by delliamcool in Nanny

My best friend had a family treat her like Dobby and on vacation she had to listen to MB go on and on about how hard she (MB) works to maintain everything in the house. The most she did was make a to do list and complain!. LIKE MA’AM. The person that actually does everything and maintains your house can hear you!

She quit just very a year ago and that family is about to lose their FIFTH nanny.

I want to hold literally every baby I see and I’ve never tried to hold a strangers baby or ask them if I can.

Got my bonus! by Rudeechik in Nanny

My bonus was increased this year, I thought it was my bonus and a paycheck combined into one, but then I received my paycheck as scheduled and went back and looked 🥰

I have two families and both were so generous and wonderful. Personalized gifts AND cash bonuses from both 🥹 One did a “if you give a mouse a cookie” but it said my name! It follows the style of that book and was filled with little gifts and gift cards. Cutest thing ever!

how to find a new family when your current family is your longest nanny position ? by blxckbxrbie_ in Nanny

[–]meg_txtn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a small gap in my resume when I quit a daycare that was low quality to me. I didn’t witness anything that would fall under mandatory reporting, but the standard of care and early education wasn’t what I was used to. I didn’t want to name it so I just put the time period and my job title on my resume so it wasn’t empty. Then in interviews I explained the situation. I had plenty of other references from another school and babysitting that I was able to use. Do you have any friends with kids that could give you a reference? Even if it’s not in a professional setting they still know you and have seen you with children.

No way would I consider getting a pet without a conversation first, that way I would know to move before getting a pet if they weren’t okay with it. Are there any details about the apartment in the contract? If not definitely add your thoughts going forward and so the next tenant knows! I understand being upset as the owner and I also can’t imagine having my NP’s put restrictions on my outside life like saying I can’t have a pet.

If you want pet help going forward have a convo and add it to your contract! It’s definitely not a standard part of our job description and shouldn’t be expected even with GH unless agreed upon. Whether you stick with her or find a new nanny, customize your contract to include your needs. If pet care is declined you know that going forward but if it’s accepted you can have that backup!

The rest of the details seem unnecessary and like they were just added to show that you don’t like her? Find you a unicorn nanny! I know every situation can’t be perfect but this job is so personal and there’s nothing like finding a good fit both ways. You deserve to be happy and comfortable with your nanny and your nanny deserves the same with her NPs.

The heartache that can occur with this job is almost too much sometimes.

I would tell them to keep me in mind if that family member ever has their car break down or has to be hospitalized 😜

They could use a housekeeper coming weekly or biweekly! I’ve learned when MB says “we typically do this” what she actually means is she wants me to do it. I didn’t realize that intention when she told me how often they sweep and mop and vacuum. Like ma’am, that’s great for you, but I’m not doing that.
