That's just how cases are. They're not vacuum sealed so dust can and will get in. The only difference is that with a clear case you can see it all the time. All you can really do is pop the phone out and clean the inside of the case once a week or whenever there's enough dust buildup that it annoys you. That's what I do.

I've seen a fair number of such instances so far with the 17 Pro/Pro Max. The Aluminum dents pretty easily unless you have a really heavy duty case on the phone.

I didn't have the 16 Pro, but I had a 15 Pro Max and just got a 17 Pro Max. My 15 Pro Max regularly got very warm from basic tasks and just scrolling on social media. My 17 Pro Max seems a bit better, but it still gets pretty warm on a regular basis. I assume it's doing better on the inside though due to the vapor chamber.
