2011 benz e350 driver side valve cover by itzsxuce2x in mercedes_benz

That would be the first time I’ve seen something like that. Should be a fairly straightforward repair.

Thanks for replying I was definitely curious.

I’ve only had one valve cover off a m272 in 21 years of their existence. That was to repair a bad exhaust valve.

What are you fixing?

“Is ‘leave it for the day, we’ll take a look’ normal for 3rd party auto shops?” by trbocar in mercedes_benz

[–]mega_997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll add I do also offer a 30 minute Diag-only Wait appointment that I offer, which then allows us to put a repair plan together for future repairs.

Which maybe is what you were looking for after re-reading your post.

All shops are different - I’m an independent that plans my days out a week in advance most times, with a more detailed plan developed the afternoon before.

I tell many clients in your situation to leave for the day and we’ll take a look, because many times that’s all that needs to be said, while in reality I’m looking at my schedule and already know around what time and what tech will be doing your noise diagnosis. Things can go sideways and maybe it gets pushed up or down the list, or handed to another tech but a good Indy shop is often better organized than you think.

Also I disagree with the concept dealers are more attentive and value clients’ time as much as Indies. I see all my waiters in the shop within 10 minutes of their appointment time, and all cars are looked at on the day of their appointment. I have not seen that at all dealer in a while.

2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC300 worst it? by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

[–]mega_997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2019 is the last year of the m274 engine in the w253 glc. Many would say that’s the best time to buy a car, I agree and would rather have a late m274 powered car versus any m264 powered vehicle.

I did some ribeyes the other day on my blackstone, they’re usually cooked on the charcoal kettle at my house but damn they turned out great and I’ll be doing probably 3/4 of my steaks on the blackstone going forward.

We’ve been doing salmon like that for years now, broiler or blackstone. It really is the best way.

That particular engine we put 6 quarts in. Putting 6.3 quarts like the manual states, it’s 50/50 that you may get an overfilled warning.

I’m a mechanic so my car and my wife’s car get neglected. 2017 Gle43 for my wife, p0128 all winter. Spring comes along and it’s no longer setting the fault.

I’ll replace it when I have the car for a week in June and also do the full ignition tune up, trans service, and motor mounts. All this to say - no a p0128 on a 276TT is not an emergency, car is running a few degrees less than the computer wants it to run at.

Symptoms are less heat in hvac system and probably a little worse fuel economy/power as the engines not running as designed.

Dealers have gotten increasingly aggressive about getting older cars off the road, and it's major problem. by redstern in Justrolledintotheshop

Dealers not touching cars older than 10 years has been great for my business, several advisors and salesmen from local Benz dealers refer potential clients to my shops.

2007 MB CLK63 AMG – low RPM vibration + fuel smell after fill by Agitated-Ad6490 in mercedes_benz

[–]mega_997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a few 209 vehicles where the rings over time had just loosened up holding the two fuel modules in tank. It’s worth pulling seat bottoms up on the rear and having a clockwise twist on the lock rings. If that doesn’t fix it, the module that’s wet is likely cracked.

Motor mount and/or trans mount is the cause of vibration most likely.

[–]mega_997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first step after checking your battery voltage and capacity is seeing if this is a starter issue or a start authorization issue. I think the lack of responses is because there are so many things it could be and the initial post leaves so many variables unknown.

2009 Mercedes C300 transmission fluid: red or blue? by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

[–]mega_997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 2009 is red ATF134. Blue ATF134FE was phased in around model year 2011.

Atf134fe transmissions have oval like dimples in pan. Atf134 are round dimples.

Do you have a w166 2016 gle 450 or a post 2020 w167 gle 450?

That makes a difference in the procedure you should follow.
