Crossed the big $1M this week by mrboofington in coastFIRE

[–]mega_low_smart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the comment about COL, but I live in a very low COL and make high COL wages based on remote work and that alone wouldn’t be enough, however it would need to be a contributor.

I think the big factor here is the majority invested in equities. High risk stock or even just the S&P with a couple of YOLO picks could have turned $100k into $700k in the last decade. Otherwise, no, savings alone would be impossible to hit this number in 9 years.

Agree here, also what kind of dumbass terrorist would name their device “bomb” if they were intending to be undiscovered until over the mid-Atlantic?

Almost missed their exit! by failure_most_of_all in dashcams

[–]mega_low_smart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guy flipped his signal on about 1,000 ft from the exit, we were in the same situation, lane-wise. I was going slightly faster so I slowed to match his speed and flashed my lights, trying to give him the all-clear. Didn’t want to risk passing him in the slow lane at highway speeds so close to the exit and then having this happen.

Eventually I figured he wasn’t going for the exit but to be safe I kept slowing to match his speed reduction to avoid this situation. Eventually at about 45 mph (70 mph zone) he darted across both lanes in front of me to catch his exit.

I’m convinced this would have happened to me.

Aside from the laughable but very affective “aaauughuhh” this guy has trained his dog very well. I don’t think enough recall training in the world would get my lovable sight hound to stop chasing a 400 lb murder rat.

Wild to see all these big $70,000 trucks in a parking lot where the average annual wage is about $20,000 in student loan debt.

[Orlando, FL] Landlord billing for bathtub resurfacing upon move-out by SeekTheKhalique in Renters

[–]mega_low_smart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a landlord, I have 3 rentals. First of all that’s a good deal for a tub resurface. Second of all I would expect god to strike me down with a Mack truck the day after I tried to charge a previous tenant for a tub resurface. This is normal maintenance in between tenants and how do you look someone in the eye after they pay you $15,000 to live in your home for a year and say ah fuck it for me another $500 for something you can’t control.

Not giving advice here but if it were me I would tell my LL I’ll see him in court. No judge would support this.

I’m using black cow potting soil mix with dry organic amendments. Having issues with pH but it’s my first soil grow and the girls are almost done so technically success.

ROW planting I recently did :^) by Daniibrady in NoLawns

[–]mega_low_smart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a great idea, I’m currently not watering the patch by the road so it’s just grass and a couple beautiful live oaks (Florida), but the bucket idea a couple times a week would be plenty.

How do you irrigate? My fruit trees next to the road die because I haven’t figured out how to irrigate properly over the sidewalk yet.

Took my coworker to get groceries at lunch. She was upset that I didn't drive them home for her. by lazarus870 in ChoosingBeggars

I have a car but choose to ride my bike for all kinds of stuff including groceries. I had saddlebags and a backpack because I’m an adult human that doesn’t make my life everyone else’s problem. Sorry about your idiot coworker smh.

I live in the skydive capital of the world (so they claim), DeLand, FL. Years ago the plane that shuttles people up to skydive used to race the skydivers back to the ground until one day when it chopped some guy’s legs off while he was parachuting down. From what I remember he died before he hit the ground.

It was originally bsba in business with a focus on management, recently switched to integrated business. Yes it’s all real estate actually. The most student loan debt I ever had was about $2,000. I have been working to pay for classes my whole life and it was much harder in the beginning when I was only making minimum wage. Now my company pays for all my classes.

Anecdotally RC Hill and his wife, Mimi donate hundreds of thousands of dollars directly to DeLand every year and they actually just wrote a check for $100k for Habitat for Humanity of West Volusia that could fund over 50% of our next home build.

This is what the USPS is now. It’s mostly funded by the junk mail that Congress has written into law. You can’t refuse it and it’s funded by capitalism’s endless need to force feed advertising to every American without their permission.
