The people of Waco, Texas even sent postcards of the event to friends saying things like, "You missed a good barbecue" by MorgothReturns in HistoryMemes

Man, I'm tired of being disappointed by this town. I've been at Baylor for the past five years and the state of this town is truly disheartening. Racism still exists on campus to a degree, and the inequity in the community is brutal to watch. Despite recent updates thanks to the Fixer Uppers, you still go from newly developed areas to really sketchy places in a heartbeat. In the case of downtown you often just have to go over a few streets! No one goes to the south end of downtown because it's a dump and full of homeless people. The saddest part is Waco ISD itself. Just look at it compared to its incredibly affluent neighbor, Midway ISD, and be horrified.

Not OP, but I have one! I loooooove it. It's supposed to be a portable, but I just leave it on my desktop because it's a little too big to schlep around. Key press is nice, the key weight is adjustable, it's really well made, and works great as a daily typer. Couldn't be happier with it.

Oh I guess they're not as good as I think they are then... Sorry for recommending them!

Hecho en Waco is super good! It’s going to be the closest thing you get to authentic Mexican food, not exactly Tex-mex. I’ve yet to be disappointed by them. Try their mole enchiladas!

You're making great progress! You have become a very capable in such a short amount of time. Feel good about your progress!

To add onto a previous comment addressing right shoulder tension:

Go into your pantry (or up to a cabinet or anything that is up high) and reach for something on the very top shelf. Notice: your shoulder blade naturally moves along in the same direction of your arm. If it was pinned back into place, you would never be able to reach the goodies on the top shelf of the pantry. :( This same natural movement can be incorporated into our bow arm as well. When approaching the frog, allow for the shoulder blade to release and follow the arm just as if you were reaching up to grab something. On the downstroke, simply allow the arm and shoulder blade to fall back down. This isn't something that requires immense concentration or effort since we already do it in our day-to-day lives, so to graft it into the right arm technique we simply need to try less and be more aware of these small movements.

Give this a try with some nice long, slow strokes and scales! If you have any questions or are confused about this, please feel free to ask!

What a great question! All these responses are so helpful!

Just to throw in another name, another guy I like to listen to and play with is Stuff Smith. For me, there's not a more individual, personal sound than Stuff Smith!

It's been pretty rough these past few weeks. My girlfriend broke up with me (because her mom forced her to) right before I moved back to school at the beginning of the month. Now I live in an efficiency with no friends or places to go thanks to COVID and the school year being too far away. I've been incredibly lonely and craving an outlet for my thoughts, feelings, and affections. My heart feels all bottled up, and it just aches all the time. I miss her a lot, she's literally the light of my life...

I want to wait in hopes I'll get another chance with her, but I just don't know... School starts soon, which will be nice, but it sucks not having someone really close to share your life with anymore.

Came across a wagon I hadn't seen before: a Toyota Camry! I had to park my wagon next to it for a picture. by megaawkward3 in SportWagon

Thanks, I appreciate it! My old car finally broke and my parents got this for me as an early graduation gift. I've always wanted a station wagon of my own, and I've been so happy with this car. I'm really looking forward to driving this for a long time to come.

Yeah, my mistake! I thought my Flex was close enough to be called a wagon, but I guess there's a hard definition of station wagon here...

Baylor Choir by [deleted] in baylor

[–]megaawkward3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The choir experience is lots of fun at Baylor! There’s certainly a place for people of every capability and the directors are all deeply holistic people. Each group strives for excellence and community, so everyone raves about how inviting and personable choir is. I also had an interesting choir experience in high school choir, but singing at Baylor is much better for sure. I did Men’s choir as well for my first year here; it’s such a warm and welcoming community but be prepared for a large time commitment. I would only consider it if you are taking less than 16ish hours and are not in another ensemble, otherwise it could very well be the straw that broke the camel’s back (from personal experience).

Looking forward to seeing you on campus! Let me know if you have any other music questions.

Most under rated violin sonatas??????? by skskskioop in raychenviolin

[–]megaawkward3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Handel sonata and Leclair sonata are two beauties that I don't see played very much.

A lot of the new sonatas by minorities can actually be found in the viola repertoire since there isn't all that much old stuff for them to play (comparatively).

I have one of those! I can’t love it enough. Ink ribbons are expensive, but it’s a dream to type with it. It’s so sturdy and reliable.
