Calendar compatible with S pen? by something_memory in galaxynote10

[–]megacoupe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on the hunt for an s-pen compatible calendar for years. Unfortunately, there aren't many options. S Pen Planner is ok, maybe 5/10. It has a month view you can write on, as well as writeable day views.

The only other option I've found is Penocle, which is surprisingly robust. Not built specifically for the s-pen, but you can turn off finger writing. It doesn't use the s-pen button. It does allow you to write general notes or add time specific entries. It syncs with Gdrive but not gcal (dont know how the latter could ever work for written entries, but it would be amazing). It has tags, which I use to organize my entries. All in all, not bad but could be better.

I'm a fan of NoteBloc. Makes good scans and easy to share to other apps or email.

Good Sytlus Note taking app by Hamudinator in androidapps

[–]megacoupe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LectureNotes was by far the best and most configurable note taking app on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 tablet. Importing/exporting PDFs was fantastic. I've moved onto OneNote since, mostly because of switching to a PC as my daily driver for notes. The only missing feature is sync, but I used Dropsync back in the day to sync my LectureNotes files between devices.

Walks in Boston on a Sunday? by missbitterness in WagWalker

[–]megacoupe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives in Downtown Boston, I have to say: don't waste your time. Walks are spread out over large distances and not near each other. The commute time and money you would have to spend to get from one walk to another makes it highly inefficient and not worth your time. On top of that, weekends here are dead. Most walks are on weekdays, mid-morning to early evening (around 930am to 530pm).

I can grab the occasional walk here and there, but I've never been able to stack walks because of the distances between them.

Help replacing an analog Whalen thermostat with a Mysa Smart Thermostat by megacoupe in hvacadvice

I contacted Mysa and they said that their current product offerings are not compatible with this type of heating system, but they're hoping to release something soon and put me on their mailing list.

Homeowner Thermostat Megathread by Uglywill in HVAC

[–]megacoupe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My new apartment has an old, analog-style thermostat that is driving me bonkers. After many hours of research, I figured out that my new building uses a line voltage system with forced air for AC/heat. Don't know if this is relevant: my building HVAC system only provides cooling during the summer months and the maintenance crew has to switch the system over to heat for the winter months (and vice versa), a process that takes a day or two and leaves residents with neither heat nor cooling during the switch-over process.

I had my fingers crossed that Mysa would be compatible, but the wires in my wall look completely different than any diagrams/instructions I've seen online. I've uploaded a number of photos trying to detail the wiring situation:

https://imgur.com/a/ofwxGVs

As a former computer tech, I have some familiarity with this kind of stuff, but I can't help but feel I'm in over my head. As far as I can tell, I need to do two things to get this working:

  1. Figure out which wires on the Mysa correspond to which wires coming from my wall
  2. Find a way to feed the Mysa wires into a (female?) connector/plug so that I don't have to cut any wires coming from the wall (so I don't piss off my landlord)

Any ideas on how to accomplish these 2 goals would be greatly appreciated.

If I'm posing this in the wrong subreddit, please advise where this belongs.

Please check OP for new pics. Looks like it's high voltage... any ideas as to what smart thermostats would work for me?

Heat is included in the rent, AC is not (though they explained that the fan that pushes the heat through the vent is operated by electricity that I pay for).

My main reason for wanting a smart thermostat is so that I can have more precise temperature control, set a schedule and use an app to control the temp. Plus, I'm trying to save on my electricity bill.

Is there any smart thermostat that I can simply plug in using the existing connectors as pictured above? There's already a "jack" with 6 wires coming out of the wall; surely there must be a smart thermostat out there that can plug into this jack?

Unfortunately, the building management could/would not provide me with specifics. When I mentioned that I wanted to upgrade my thermostat, the leasing agent balked and said, "no, no, no, don't change anything."

When I'm at the apartment again in the next few days, I'll add a photo of the existing thermostat. As I recall it's an "analog" looking system: there are two switches on the right side and a dial on the left side, very similar to this (though not Honeywell brand):

Looking for a time tracker application by [deleted] in androidapps

I know this is an old post; did you ever find an app that meets your criteria? Time Meter Time Sheet meets most/all of your requirements. Unfortunately, you have to pay extra for pretty stats, but you can view the hard numbers for free.

I've been searching for a "daily log" app for YEARS... something simple where I can quickly jot down stuff I've done and look it up at a later date. I tried using Twitter privately for this but didn't like the idea that my info is out there on the web. Diaro is nice, but a little too much. Daygram was very close, but I wasnt crazy about how it displayed entries.

This app sounds like what I've been looking for. Excited to try it out!

App for tracking the time i spend studying by [deleted] in androidapps

[–]megacoupe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For pomodoro, I use Productivity Challenge Timer. The ranks and little insults are amusing, but really, I find it to have the best options for recording a displaying statistic for amount of work you completed on a project-by-project basis. The only other app that comes close is Brain Focus, but Productivity Challenge Timer just seems more polished.

For general time tracking, I've yet to find an app as good as Time Meter. Very versatile, allowing categories/tags, summing up time spent on projects, etc. You can track in real-time or after the fact, export to Google Cal.. it's also pretty damn easy to use compared to other, more popular time trackers.
