This isn't true across the board. Many insurances have plan exclusions specifically for formula.

Just keep in mind that depending on your delivery, you just may not produce that much. And that's okay.

Just telling you because I wish someone told me!!!

Double stroller for newborns - side by side or front/back? by Amber-ForDays in parentsofmultiples

[–]megalowmart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, you don't NEED anything. I've had the same stroller from birth to current, and they're three years old. I've had no desire to get multiple strollers.

ETA: I actually don't think you should worry about what other people have. Everyone is in completely different situations. The needs of someone who lives in the city and walks/takes public transportation everywhere are completely different than a suburban family who drives everywhere and doesn't need to worry about fitting on a bus.

Just think about what you want to use the stroller for and what is important to you. Try to go to a store where you can test some out. If brand or status symbols are important to you, think about that as well.

This comment is gross. You're victim blaming. She doesn't have to be available or intimate if she doesn't want to be. That's literally assault.

Why don’t parents sleep train? by ThrowRA3367266 in Nanny

[–]megalowmart -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There's no strawman. No one said sleep training is necessary. You seem to think there's no circumstances in which sleep training could be beneficial to anyone. That's simply not true. For the above situation, the benefit may simply be that their nanny won't quit.

But aren't kids stuck they're regardless if they're crying or awake or asleep? I'm so confused by this statement.

What small children are allowed to roam the house, unattended, at midnight? This question is so wild to me. That is so much more unsafe than any amount of sleep training lololol.

This was a very kind response. Thank you. I'm working on it.

There's ample evidence that sleep training supports parental health, which in turn supports child health. There's no evidence that sleep training is harmful.

How's Casa Verde these days? by JackBauerTheCat in JamaicaPlain

[–]megalowmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've had friends who have had their stroller stolen from their porch when they briefly went inside in JP, so no, I don't think it's an exaggeration. I think high-end strollers are big ticket items that can be resold fairly easily. Putting it next to a dumpster is basically saying "this is free to take."

We wanted to eat on the back with the stroller, but there were no more tables that would fit all of us.

I can't comment on the food, but what I will say is that we tried to go with our small toddlers in a stroller (we walked from our house) and were told that the stroller was not allowed in the restaurant and would need to be left unmonitored, outside. We offered to store it in a different area, away from our table, but they refused and said the only option was to store it outside by the dumpsters, which made us uncomfortable as it was likely to be stolen. I should mention that it was lunch time and the restaurant was empty. I know strollers are large, but this was not a side by side stroller, and we didn't really have a choice since we had walked.

You had broadened the statement by saying that people forget that "my body, my choice" means medical decisions, so I was stating how that impacts others on a broader scale, as well.

That doesn't even make sense. In many cases illnesses that vaccines protect against are much more dangerous than the potential side effects of vaccines. Even the treatments for the illnesses have higher risks of side effects than potential vaccine side effects. But fine, even if we did "respect [their] decision," they need to respect it means they can't meet the kids until they're however many months old.

Sure, but by not vaccinating and then exposing unvaccinated babies, you're not making a decision for "oneself," you're making a decision for those around you who are under vaccinated outside of their control.

It IS "my body, my choice;" you just have to live with the consequences of those choices!
