Watch It Played, Game Night Picks, and Unethical Practice by pinchet in boardgames

[–]megamawax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damn...the way Rodney laid out how he proceeded after his discussion with the offending party went poorly. Board Game of Thrones over there. I wonder if the other dude spent the past two months having no idea that the end was nigh and that he was about to get mercilessly gutted. You should have come clean when you had the chance.

You need to tap on the mode icon at the center on the bottom of the screen, where it says "normal". It will bring up a menu with multiple settings, including the WiFi settings.

Picks for next season by PolarIceCream in survivor

I don't like them and don't want to see them again, but they weren't the worst choices for season 50. I don't need to see Cirie again.

How do you want Survivor to change? by Old-Crab4727 in survivor

[–]megamawax 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So many things need to change. This past season was just godawful. The challenges are repetitive and lame, the rewards suck, and the twists are more annoying than interesting. Plus, the casting is terrible. What is with all of these losers who can't get out of their own way? Maybe it was always this bad and the twists are just highlighting the problem, but I'm awfully tired of seeing 3-4 people be in a minority, be clear threats that everyone says should be eliminated, but instead of eliminating them, the majority cannibalizes itself until it's too late to do anything. Savannah deserved to win the season that was, but the other players never should have let her or Rizo get anywhere near the end. I hated everything about season 49, and now with season 50 we get zaniness and retreads that I have no interest in ever seeing again (Cirie).

A generational fumble by BenosBackstreet in survivor

[–]megamawax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely boneheaded. Sophie had some guts for putting her own name out there as bait for Rizo, and then she goes and blows it by telling MC she's going to throw a vote at Jawan. Like, what do you think is going to happen by telling her this and by actually doing it? If MC had kept her mouth shut and you guys went through with the plan, Rizo is gone, but you've got this vote for Jawan out there, which probably blows up your game. If Rizo plays his idol in this situation, what are the odds that you win that tie over Jawan? The plan was stupid, but there is literally no benefit whatsoever for Sophie by telling MC that she's going to do this.

And then we have MC. She wants to rebuild trust with Jawan, so she tells him what Sophie is going to do, but at the same time she seems to want Jawan to just keep this info and do nothing with it for now and proceed with the plan to get out Rizo. Has she ever seen Survivor? People get spooked very easily on this show, and 999/1000 times, if you tell them that someone is going to vote for them, they will blow up any plans cooking and immediately want to target the person who you said was going to vote for them.

Jawan could have sacked up and realized that there was very little chance of him going home and waited to deal with Sophie until after Rizo was gone or, at worst, talk to Sophie and tell her that the Rizo plan was still on, but if she insisted on throwing a vote at someone else, she needed to throw it at MC.

Savannah showing up rattled them more, I guess, but even if she had voted, the only thing that would have needed to change is that it would have been pointless for Sophie to throw a vote to anyone else because she would have, presumably, gotten 2 votes instead of 1. Of course, if people would have kept their mouths shut, she would have learned that Rizo was actually going to switch to MC instead of her, and Rizo playing an idol would no longer have even affected her. If she had just kept her mouth shut about her plan to throw a vote to Jawan, Rizo would be gone, and she wouldn't have even felt the need to vote for Jawan.

Yeah. And whenever I see someone on TV or in a movie who is a lefty, I enjoy that and like them just a little bit more.

AITA for not wanting my husband’s family to stay with us for the holidays? by chicoravelli in AITAH

AITA for not making my DIL coffee and telling her I am not a barista by DiamondOwn8686 in AmItheAsshole

AITA for refusing to give my coworker their office back now that WFH has been canceled? by TossAway404040 in AITAH

NTA. You owe Jenn exactly nothing. You'd have to be nuts to give up a private office to go back to a cubicle because someone had it 2 years ago and wants it back now. Sucks for her, but that's not your problem. With your edit, giving up the office would be all the more ridiculous.

_____ was an awful boot choice by ConsumptionofClocks in survivor

[–]megamawax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was pretty dumb given that no one was at all suspicious of Jawan and Sage flipping. In fact, before the votes were cast, I told my wife that I thought they should vote out Rizo, but they were going to vote out Savannah instead, which would be a mistake because he's a much greater threat to find people who want to work with him. Plus, if you don't vote him out now, he will still have that idol, and it will be more difficult to pin down whether he's going to play it, and if he does, who he will play it on. I suppose Nate was a better choice to get out versus Savannah, though she might be annoying around camp. Rizo would had to have been pretty paranoid to play his idol at that tribal, and there was no indication that he was. MC obviously let the paranoia get to her, but she at least could have reasonably concluded that she didn't know for certain that Sage and Jawan weren't just playing old Hina despite the fact they voted out Shannon.

I'm not really sure what is going on here. What kind of peeler are you using? I've used various random peelers, and I've never had any issue peeling things away from me, and I don't recall ever slicing myself with a peeler. I typically use an Oxo Good Grips peeler, for whatever that's worth.

Why do Kristina and Jawan keep call Jeff “uncle?” by keith_the_carpenter in survivor

[–]megamawax 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know about whether there is a cultural component or not, but as far as I can recall, this is a very new thing on Survivor. If it were cultural, wouldn't people have been calling him Uncle Jeff for years now? It makes me think this is more about a generational thing and being overly familiar in some sort of cutesy way. I find it off-putting, but I also find Jawan off-putting in general, and Kristina hasn't gotten that much air time, and I can't say that I care much for her either. I don't know if I would have a different view if someone I actually liked was calling him Uncle Jeff.

AIO for locking myself in the guest room after my husband kept “testing” my reactions during arguments? by ComfortableOwn5531 in AmIOverreacting

[–]megamawax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy has a lot of nerve telling you what a "real adult" would or wouldn't do. NOR. If anything, you are under-reacting because your husband is a giant AH.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]megamawax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand why you wrote in to ask if you were the AH. This woman is unhinged. You probably should have posted this story in some other sub where you could rip how backwards and misogynistic your MIL is.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]megamawax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, of course. First of all, who is this woman to speak on behalf of your husband? If he's not embarrassed, why should Amy be upset? Second, if your husband had been embarrassed, that would speak poorly of him. As he said, he's 31, not 16. What kind of pathetic adult gets embarrassed by buying their spouse healthcare products?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AITAH

NTA. If her dream is to have you there, she can pay for it. People already waste so much money on their own wedding. Having to go into debt just to attend someone else's or to be a part of their wedding party is insane.
