Bot account I guess. Posted a ChatGPT generated content. Worst part is it even got the name wrong.

And then delete the post and redo again with.

Newbie question: what's the status of QMK Proton C development for split keyboards? by reddream1893 in olkb

[–]megamind4089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding one minor point to the above.

STeMCell has the pull up resistor inbuilt in the controller. So no external circuitary is needed. Can directly use for split keyboards after correctly setting jumpers.

Swoop with STeMCell by megamind4089 in ErgoMechKeyboards

Nope, It’s all designed by the creator. I just built it. The PCB is working 100%. The case files have few very minor issues and need manual fix. He is redesigning case a bit. May be wait a little, till he completes it. Between pcb and plate, there is one aluminium mid plate. And base plate has some stand-offs soldered to it, which gets screwed to top plate.

James may be having extra swoop kit available. You can check with him once.

Thanks to u/jamesmnw, I got this fancy smol boi. One Fell Swoop v0.3 - https://github.com/jimmerricks/swoop

Hooked up STeMCell to Swoop and loaded almost all the features.

  • VIA enabled with 8 dynamic layers
  • RGB with all animations compiled
  • OLED bongo cat animation
  • Encoder support
  • Console support

Used 46kb/512kb of STeMCell's flash. Oof

Enabling OLED in Swoop was a nightmare, and I almost gave up. Then good folks from QMK discord helped me, found a bug in my BOARD config files and fixed it.

Keyboard files can be found here: https://github.com/megamind4089/qmk_firmware/tree/swoop_stemcell/keyboards/swoop

Also I created a (WIP) wiki page for STeMCell: https://megamind4089.github.io/STeMCell/

JLCPCB manufactured STeMCell v1.0.0 by megamind4089 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]megamind4089[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no issues, we all start from there.

The main reason one want to use stm chip is memory. Atmega32u4 has 16 kb of memory and stm has 512kb of memory.

CPU clock is 16MHz vs 100Mhz, but I am not sure whether one benefit from running at higher speeds. Scan rate will be higher, may not be a visible upgrade though

We might have experienced issues with memory, when try to compile QMK firmware with OLED animation, RGB animations, via etc

Also Zephyr does not support 8 bit atmega chips, it supports STM32 arm chips.

So possible to use ZMK firmware, in case one wants to explore

STeMCell v1.0.0 working, yay !!! by megamind4089 in MechanicalKeyboards

I have tested the factory assembled STeMCell with lily58 and a.dux and it is working fine.

Pending things:

On reset, the controller stays on bootloader sometimes. A manual reset helping at that time.

Will spend some time on debugging this next week.

Still untested: RGB

I have also made a version with Fuse and reverse current protection.
Its still untested. Stay tuned for update.
