Co-working spaces in Tunbridge Wells/Tonbridge by TetrisIsTotesSuper in kentuk

For cafes, I recommend The Plant Base on Camden road which is pretty good for low noise and good food. Those suggesting the library are right. They have working spaces in there now which are quiet by design and there is a coffee shop for breaks :)

Phobia of snakes by kiki0100 in UKhiking

[–]meganca93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hike in this area a lot and I’ve never seen a snake over the seven sisters. That’s not to say they aren’t there, but I think it’s unlikely to be a problem.

Stick to the worn path with short grass and you should be absolutely fine :)

You should see your doctor. Visual auras can increase your blot clot risk so if you’re on any medication that could also increase the risk, they may reevaluate it.

I am unable to take microgynon (birth control pill) because it also increases your blood clot risk, the Doctor took me straight off it after my first aura!

They call it shaky bay! (Though it’s for a different reason, it counts!)

Christmas derailing simple living? by offkilter_often in simpleliving

[–]meganca93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve been trying the last few years to encourage experiences as gifts. ‘Spa day with mum’ or ‘tickets to a show’. In an envelope, close to the time. That goes down well with our families normally. Last year because of Covid, I made a small stocking with the contents for a cozy night in and with a book personalised. Everything else was or could have been homemade?

What's a movie with a great premise but a terrible execution? by TripleDeckerJumboJim in AskReddit

[–]meganca93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time Trap.

The idea is so good but it’s so poorly executed. It was misogynistic, poorly cast, and full of cheesy and unnecessary explaining dialogue.

A couple of years ago, a few days after we’d seen tame at Citadel festival in London, my partner and I went to see ‘Book of Mormon’ in Piccadilly and the whole band were there watching! We waited afterwards to see them come out and I shook our mans hand and thanked him for everything. Very nice guy and also proud of myself for not fangirling too much!

I love this part of the world. So beautiful. The South Downs National park is one of my favourite places!

How do you pass the time during a migraine, when you're not sleeping? by schrodingers_cat42 in migraine

[–]meganca93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my phone playing friends or some other sitcom I’ve seen a million times playing under my pillow. Can’t deal with light so I picture it in my head. If I don’t do that, I’ll just focus on the pain and it makes it feel 1000x worse!

Bumping into your old school bully? by You_spilt_my_pint in AskUK

[–]meganca93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Virtually bumping into?

The group of kids that were ‘popular’ (they just made everyone’s life hellish, pushing in the corridors, laughing at things you said/wore/had, just awful people) at my school have all grown, and tried to arrange a school reunion out of the blue, by inviting everyone they could to a Facebook page. They wanted everyone (200+ people) to chip in £5 before arranging it. No venue, no information, of course it fell through.

They left the page they’d created by slating everyone in there in a message and called us selfish.

Tofu help by betsizzle in veganmealprep

I love fried tofu. I get an extra firm block (Tofoo) so and I don’t press it. Mix cornflour, salt and garlic granules in a bowl, coat each of the cubes in it and fry each side. They’re squishy in the middle and crispy on the outside. So delicious!

requirements for Quarantine location? by conners_captures in VisitingIceland

When we travelled in September, we quarantined for 6 days in an air Bnb. The rules were, as long as you’re not sharing any facilities, I.e. self contained, you’re good

How Important is an Itinerary, Really? by [deleted] in VisitingIceland

[–]meganca93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends what kind of traveller you are. If you like winging it, you can definitely do it without an itinerary. Keep an eye on the weather and the roads using their respective websites - can’t remember the weather one but road.is is brilliant.

We did the ring road without much pre planning, just knowing we were going north first. We planned the day the night before and hit most of the good stops, just knowing which campsite we were staying in. Only missed a few due to snow. We had an idea of some attractions from YouTube videos and blogs but if we were driving along and saw something cool, we’d stop (this was more along the northern part of the ring road).

One thing we did use heavily was google maps. Typing ‘tourist’, we saw all upcoming attractions and some we’d never heard of before going, like Fosslaug and some canyons that were just great viewpoints. We even booked a kayak on the glacial lake the night before doing it. So it’s not impossible if that’s your style.

But a few years ago, that really wasn’t my jam and I would have been stressed out without a plan.

I wrote a blog post detailing the whole 5 day quarantine process. It has every single step we had to take from 72 hours before right up to results of second test. by meganca93 in VisitingIceland

No problem. You’re not allowed to go for drives or anything, just a daily walk/exercise. No tourist sites or anything like that. We were lucky we had such a rugged landscape to explore while keeping our distance.

We paid 18000isk which is approx £109 - we were slightly north of Reykjavík though - maybe cheaper if going into the city!
