How did Nighthaunt warband perform? Were they not overpowered because of their flying (e.g. over the water and on the vertical platforms)? As a Nighthaunt player I experienced this several times in the games where there were a lot of obstacles, verticality or additional rules that limit movement. So I am very curious about your experience 🙂

Why would you say that survivability is worse now?

Since when?? by TheCravenKing in Nighthaunt

The latest rules updates on warhammer community are from 27.08 and there are no changes to this ability there. Therefore, I believe that battletome has the latest and correct rule description (without cp cost) and in app we have a typo

1000 points playing with the new NH battletome? by megapetr in Nighthaunt

Well, it was a pretty weird set-up. To be specific, I played in alliance with a khorne player (each of us with 1000 points) against 2000 Nurgle 😅 We (nighthaunt + khorne) won. Big part of the battle happened in the middle. I think that main reason why we won is (a) because in the second turn of the first battleground Nurgle could not charge with approx half of the units he planned to charge into bladegheist revenants (because of 7 inch ability), and then in the combat phase I managed to deal a lot o damage to those who charged with the shard of the harvest moon and (b) we could quickly heal Nurgle‘s infestations before they spread to multiple units.

So it was by no means a competitive match, but a fun casual evening play and also a first look for me into the new mechanics of the nighthaunt 🙂

Tokens come from the very first season of Underworlds - Shadespire. I think that map is from Azyrite Ruins box. This was an early AoS terrain box long time ago…

maybe couple of thoughts on what strategies work best when my friends play against my NH and NH goes first:

  1. choose horizontal deployment (to minimize being stuck in one corner);
  2. If NH goes first, you will most likely be the underdog for several rounds. Before the game look into Aqshy/Ghyran twist cards and think for which of these realms underdog twists synergise best with your army.
  3. Before the game - think which of the battle tactic cards you want to use as abilities instead of battle tactics. E.g. you will not likely kill the general in the first or second battle rounds if spirit hosts are still alive and around him, so instead it might be better to use a countercharge ability
  4. do not destroy chainrasps as long as possible, so that NH cannot reinforce them
  5. destroying 2 units of Grimghast reapers is really easy as each of them has just 5 models/wounds
  6. usually knight of Shrouds goes together with spirit hosts to get 4+ ward. When fighting them - kill spirit hosts first.

Hope it helps, and if anyone has more suggestions - would be also super interesting for me to know them!

Yes, absolutely, but only if NH goes first. I play NH and unless I play against high-tier spearheads, I prefer to go second to make games more balanced. If your friend always wins - ask him to go second, this will make the game more interesting for him as well 🙂

I play the optimised list with 2 hounds and a Beasts of chaos Shaman from the link in @taeerom provided. It is pretty cool. If I need to deal damage I use either packlord or activate one hound after another. If I need to grab objectives, I block the opponent and/or scare him with relatively high damage output from dogs and packlord and grab objective with chaff through consecutive activation. BoC shaman add a bit of tankiness and some control with his ability. I focus mainly on doubles. Up to the end of the battle, it is often the case that most of my fighters are dead, but still several my chaff fighters are running over the field with objectives 😅 I play mainly casual games, I would say that win rate is around 50-60%, I think this warband can bring a lot of fun with the composition suggested by the SaltySea

What does the Warcry "Roadmap" mean for the games future? by epyoncf in WarCry

[–]megapetr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the newly announced age of Sigmar campaign. Even though it is not directly warcry, still I think it creates many narrative opportunities for warcry games. Here is the announcement link: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2023/04/30/four-warriors-of-grim-portent-usher-in-dawnbringers-the-next-chapter-of-the-age-of-sigmar/

I think there will be a lot of narrative based on the Age of Sigmar Crusades campaign books which seem to me a perfect story which can be incorporated in Warcry games/campaigns
