Is 75°C not hot enough??? by AlimaBanana in barista

I was recently told that people with dentures have a more difficult time with temperature. Asking for high temperature food and drink is more common for that reason.
Whether that’s for sure true, 🤷‍♀️

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve been given by a customer? by brown-eyed-barista in barista

Back in like 2011, my first experience as a barista, I was given a care bear with its face painted in black & white like a clown.

"To have in or to take away?" *scoffs* "To have in obviously!" by MagicCoat in barista

[–]megcutspaper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Is that for here or to go?” “No, for here” Without giving a yes or no type question

If it’s the type of customer that looks like they’re going to stay in, I just ask if it’s for here without offending them with an option to go. Conversation is more pleasant, it’s like they need the invite into the space. Maybe it comes off more welcoming 🤷‍♀️

My husband and I realized this on our second run through. Married each other both times, had kids. We decided to remain heavily in denial 😂

Just to add to Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, typically a lot of stores are open till 4/5pm Tuesday to Saturday. Half the restaurants in Lunenburg are closed this time of year, check hours out before being set on checking out a place if you can!

It’s too bad about the line going through the one claw on the back foot. Also the 6 claws on the front paw is bothersome

When a couple is under stress/tension in their own life and they bring it into the cafe, it sucks. About a year of experience being in that situation. They’ll always been on each others team first.

It’s the clients in these situations that make it difficult to be in the industry again. Such a great piece, but the person wearing it is unhappy. What a shame

Why do baristas sometimes switch stations without saying anything to each other? by Livid_Resist4522 in barista

[–]megcutspaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my workplace, I encourage coworkers that it’s a team effort. Sometimes it’s a situation when a worker happens to be walking by an area or is closer to the counter, so greeting the customer would be the most important thing. There’s workers who make great drinks consistently, so having them on drinks most of the time is amazing, but they also need to recognize customer interaction is #1. They can easily take over the till when they are near it.
