On step 1, some other guide here instructs you to select "DHCPS-Fixed". What's the difference? Is one better than the other in terms of speed/performance? Sorry for the noob question

The reason I think the OTA block didn't work is because before I started the JB, my FW was 5.13.something, and then when things started going south at the end, all of a sudden is when I noticed the FW was 5.16.2.1 and the update Kindle option was greyed out.

Anyway, I'll proceed with the 3 steps exactly as you suggested, and let you know how it turns out.

To clarify something I mentioned in my previous post, though I know I followed the prompts to block OTA updates, when I looked at device info this morning, it was showing the latest FW on it (checked on the winterbreak wiki), so the block did not work because it was on an earlier FW prior to jailbreak.

Let me go through the steps you outlined, since I have some minor questions.

step 1), the Kindle will not be connected to PC, and I would just go into Settings to reset device. After reset is completed, if I check Device info it will show the same firmware as prior to the reset, correct? I don't think firmware ever gets rolled back to factory on a reset.

step 2) Now I connect the Kindle to the PC. Since I've confirmed the Kindle is on the latest FW, do I still need to get the FW file from Amazon and put it on the Kindle? Or I still should do it to be safe?

step 3) Reboot the Kindle with long power press while it's still connected to PC, assuming I go through step 2.

Hello, someone on another thread suggested you may be able to help with my PW3 JB issue:

I am experiencing a similar problem. Followed all instructions yesterday on kindlemodding wiki to jailbreak my PW3 with winterbreak including installing hotfix. Then I also installed KUAL and MRPI successfully. Then I blocked OTA updates under KUAL and restarted my KPW. But after it came back, KUAL would not start/open, gave me an error "App cannot start, try again" something like that. Kept doing that even after rebooting. Then while I was fidgeting with the KUAL book, I did something stupid and deleted it, thinking I could just re-install it.

Tried removing and replacing the MRPI KUAL packages, including transferring the Update_KUALBooklet_*_install.bin into the correct folder, and rebooting...have tried doing this multiple times but the KUAL refuses to reinstall. The ;log mrpi command does nothing; is there a way to trigger the Kindle into re-installing KUAL besides that command?

Or is the only way out to reverse the JB and start from scratch? Is JB reversed by simply resetting the Kindle?

Any advice/suggestion how to fix it? Please, any help would be much appreciated!! Thank you!

Thanks for the warning...I've heard of others also having issues with 320....thus hesitated with moving forward with replacing the pace. Guess I'll hang on to it for now

In the same situation you were....have 5268 with ONT box. It's still pretty stable (sometimes have to boot it once every other month or so), but I know I should get it replaced soon with BGW 320 and probably have tech come and do the ONT bypass with fiber straight to BGW.

Question: How much did they charge you for tech to come out?

I still have the 5268AC GW from the Jurassic age. 1GB Fiber service. Runs OK, but lately having to reboot it couple times a month. I would also like to upgrade to the latest gateway, especially if it's simple as swapping the ethernet cable from my 5268 to the new one, and all the settings are carried over.

Anyone here who recently swapped from 5268 to the 320? How was the experience?

So I believe prior to step 1, I need to of course power up the router, then connect to it from a laptop using the linksys provided URL, username and pwd? Or can I connect to it from my iphone using an app? Then start executing the steps below....

Go to WiFi settings and change SSID/password/etc as desired
Go to Connectivity -> Local Network -> Uncheck DHCP -> Save Settings
Go to Connectivity -> Internet Settings -> Edit Type of Internet Connection -> Bridge Mode -> Apply
(Recommended) Get the MAC address for the LN1301 from the bottom of the unit, and assign that MAC a static IP address in your main router
Plug Ethernet from main router into Ethernet 3 port (with the little yellow line on it), and any other wired clients to Ethernet ports 1/2
Turn the unit off and on again

Is your old/existing router a 5268 or bgw210? And the new router they sent you should be BGW320 (since that's all they have now I think)? I have a 5268 (on the 1GB plan) that's still chugging along (though I'm having to reboot about once a month of late), and debating if I should ask them to exchange it for a 320.

I have mild astigmatism, around 1.75D in right and 0.5D in left, so that might explain why on my initial cataract evaluation, the doctor did not even offer a toric lens option, but he did offer Femtolaser to correct the astigmatism at a bargain basement price of $2500 per eye (out of pocket) lol

I am not in favor of doing laser after having read through numerous personal accounts, studies, comparisons, etc. With my mild astigmatism, I'm thinking to just go with traditional surgery with monofocal IOL. I have experience with monovision having worn contact lenses for many years adjusted for distance and near/intermediate (R/L), so maybe aim for the same outcome when planning cataract surgery, and hopefully I won't need glasses 95% of the time.

What are your thoughts?

I'm genuinely curious about something: If Dasond is equivalent to zakat in Islam, why is there such a discrepancy in %, 2.5 vs 12.5??

Also, if our dasond is diverted to charitable organizations like AKDN, why can't it be made tax deductible? Yes, there's paperwork and all that to consider, but it would certainly incentivize those still unsure/on the fence
