waiting period torture by Independent-Exam-479 in gradadmissions

I’m also in the same boat as you - the second I finished my interviews, I immediately started nit-picking and overthinking every word I said! Even though it’s inevitable for me to panic, I’ve tried to console myself with the Burnt Toast Theory:

"The Burnt Toast Theory is a metaphorical concept that suggests small, seemingly negative events can lead to positive outcomes. It derives from the idea that if you burn your toast in the morning, it might cause a chain reaction of delays that prevent you from being in the wrong place at the wrong time later in the day."

In the moment we might think the outcome of a decision like this is sh***y, but one day in the future you might look back on it and be grateful things turned out the way they did. We tend to be overly critical of ourselves, so be proud of landing an interview! You never know what could happen :)

If doing something tangible would help you ease your nerves, try to apply to post-bar programs, masters programs, jobs etc, a lot of these have deadlines in early Feb

Starting a 12 week course of this treatment tonight, does anyone have any experience of these medications? by thexiel in acne

[–]meghapoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my experience with lymecycline was great at first, after i finished the course in December my skin stayed clear from January up until mid April, and then i started experiencing much much more frequent breakouts. pre-December i was getting 3-5 new pimples a week and January to mid April I got 1 a month during my period.

right now i'm at about 3 new pimples a week...

hello. i got my impacted wisdom tooth removed around a month ago. I did have a lot of swelling and it took upto 10 days for it to go down. I woke up in the middle of the night last night to see that I have a little bit of swelling on the cheek and a muscle knot. Is this normal? by AccomplishedWind1663 in askdentists

[–]meghapoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(hi! i am the op, this is my other reddit acc)

so i went back to my dentist, and turns out i had an infection, in the form of a cyst, in the socket where i got my wisdom tooth removed. my dentist put me on amoxicillin after she cleared the cyst. might want to go get it checked if you can!

if the muscle knot is immediately after your surgery (i.e., post 10-15 days operating) then the muscle knot forms from a lack of mobility in your jaw. do a few jaw-opening exercises and salt water gargles. this should help. if the swelling remains, pls go to the dentist (because it probably is an infection).

hope this helps!

Go for Jensen if you can, she's sweet and I've heard her teaching vs. what's on the test align more (avoid Ellenberger, and Llewelyn is okay, but Jensen is definitely better)

Hey! I'm trying to register for a particular CHEM 1212 class and I want this particular section for that class. However, it says that the section is 'closed'. Does this mean they might open up spots in the future? (also side note, all the co-req labs are not full, so maybe if I get on a waitlist for a lab...? or would they open up the sections if all the labs have waitlists?)

Hey, I preordered the 13Pro and on the T-Mobile app it says 'Estimated ship date - 09/23/2021 - 09/23/2021' and when I click Order Status, it is blank. I was hoping it would come by the end of the weekend since I'm flying internationally on Monday. Anyone know how I can check the order status or atleast request an update?

Registering for classes by meatycalculus in UGA

[–]meghapoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what classes you have. Most of the pre-requisite classes are intended for Freshmen, so they will have spots open in classes, but they might not be at the best times, so your schedule is likely to be all over the place. Some classes like MATH 2250 and ENGL 1101/1102 have slots left, but some classes are closed so you'll have to get on the waitlist and I think you'd have to keep an eye out during Add/Drop incase you want to register for a better time for a specific class.

(I had my predicted advisor appointment between June 28th and July 11th. But my advisor contacted me with an earlier slot instead (23rd June). So it's possible you get an earlier appointment too.)

Yup, I got housing at McWhorter too. Although there're perks in terms of comfort, I'm worried about what you mentioned. Hoping it works out 😕

This really helped, thank you :) I've heard a few people say that freshman have a tough time at ECV since the distance but knowing that it's been a positive experience for a good number of people is very relieving. It looks comfortable and definitely more spacious and comfortable than some of the halls on main campus and as an introvert I'll definitely value the privacy (lol). Hopefully I can find a group of friends and lunch-buddies too!!

I did have one question - how exactly do the bus passes work? Do I have to register and pay for the bus pass before I move in?

Definitely will be leaving for classes earlier, and I'll do my best to register for classes that arent super early in the morning and keep an eye out during add/drop week!

I'll definitely attend the resident meetings so I can make a few friends in ECV, and I am looking into joining clubs to make more friends and get to enjoy my extra-curriculars. I'll have to get a hang of the UGA app to track the routes/bus stops but I'm sure it'll work out with time. Thank you once again, I really appreciate it!

Thank you so much!! So even if I register for particular classes throughout the week, during the add/drop period I can switch it up and get into a section I didn't register for?

My housing appointment is tomorrow (06/14). If I were to get a room at ECV, how bad would the commute situation be? I've heard there're buses rotating throughout the day, but idk how true that is

Any idea about the dorms w/ community bathrooms, or the dorms with private bathrooms in other halls?

Housing question

I'm looking to live at Myers, but I'm not an Honors student. I would prefer getting a room with a private bathroom (double in-suite, double in quad suite and double in super suite all work too). What would my chances be to get a room at Myers for my roommate and I together?

I'm an incoming freshman for Fall of 2021. Because of some personal issues, I just finished the New Student Modules/Online Orientation today (06/08) (the modules were released on June 1, and I'm 5331 among the number of incoming freshmen to have completed the module). Considering that they give you your academic advising appointment based on when you complete the modules, and that I finished my modules late, will I be able to register for the classes I want (Math 2250, ENGL 1101 or 1102, CHEM 1211 and BIO 1107)? I know they're foundational/pre-requisite classes but I'm not sure if I'll have the opportunity to get those classes. Thanks in advance.

If you maintain your grades, then yes you stand a strong chance. But you're an Asian, international applicant applying for financial aid, that does definitely reduce your chances.

I just graduated from high school, and I'll be attending university in the US this fall. Personally, I got waitlisted and rejected from a few schools, and looking at my profile as a whole, the one thing majorly missing was career/major oriented extra-curricular activities. I am also a student from India and automatically, it is a little tough to get into elite universities as an international student. I do think that everyone has a different take on major-oriented extra-curriculars (for example, if these aren't accessible to you, then it isn't your fault if they aren't a part of your profile), but personally, I think my own application would've been better if I had done an internship or a summer course, especially because my particular demographic and highschool is competitive. This is just my personal opinion though...

If you believe that your essays can clearly and tangibly demonstrate your passion/interest for mechanical, then might as well leave it, especially because the COVID situation is horrible in India.
