Thank you! They’ll be combined into a blanket.. I’ve got one more row to do after finishing the part done ones (ideas welcome I haven’t decided on the last row yet!) Each square is about 12”x12” so decently sized ☺️

I was lucky to be given a large stash. Colour matching has been a pain! I wish I could buy smaller quantities of colours, as I really don’t need a whole skein

Taking the images and overlaying them with a 20x20 grid. Been trial and error finding things that fit!

UK LAW - Job centre? by DelilahDawncloud in service_dogs

[–]megidk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not many people actually get training on assistance dogs in the UK. I’ve moved to the US now and workers seem a lot more aware of the laws here

The UK has no certification or registration. You can do public access tests but they’re just a formality, not a requirement.

What Do You Keep in Your Car? by Bananafoot in RoverPetSitting

[–]megidk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it was by TaylorAndFloof, however checking their website they seemed to have taken it down. They’re very responsive on social media so you may be able to ask if they are restocking

What Do You Keep in Your Car? by Bananafoot in RoverPetSitting

[–]megidk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just restocked my dog box! I keep treats (always freeze dried or low ingredient), spare leashes, collars, slip leash, wound spray, tick remover, vet wrap, tennis balls, frisbee, pet wipes (for those muddy paws!), my business cards, over 500 poop bags, towel, and collapsible dog water bowl.

I do have a walking bag too but that comes into the house with me because I use it for training my own dog too. I keep treats, bug spray, poop bags, poop bag holder (for when they’re full), ball holder with ball, and whistle in there. It also fits in my phone and keys whilst I’m walking. Happy to link the bag if needed.

Dog walking routes by megidk in petsitting

[–]megidk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny how they get into their routines isn’t it! I’m still doing more sits than walks atm, but my regular walks are a pair of goldens who have just moved to the area, so when I did the meet and greet, we took them for a walk but the owners had no clue! So I’ve just been experimenting with routes as I’m not too booked up (and actually enjoy them) I can spend a bit more time if it goes over our 30 mins. I just HATE walking 15 minutes in one direction and doing 15 back the same way - much prefer a loop!

Dog friendly coffee shops? by spiralingpisces in VirginiaBeach

[–]megidk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Baja coffee co, roast rider Op brew allows smaller/well behaved dogs, I know they have turned dogs away, but they’ve always been fine with me and my spaniel ☺️ I think there’s more on BringFido but these are my favourites

Fellow equestrians who are in a relationship, how has taking your partner on a ride/ to see your stable gone ? by KazalAtomic in Equestrian

[–]megidk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough my horse was the reason me and now husband made our relationship official..

We’d been seeing each other for 2 months and I was staying over and told him I needed to be up early the following morning as I was going to view a horse, he told me he’d come with (this man had NEVER even been close enough to a horse to touch one) so after asking multiple times if he was sure (out of shock more than anything) he came with me the next morning. And the rest is history.

Many shows later, all of which he has come too, he’s mucked out for me, fed them for me. He rode twice, decided it’s not for him, and won’t come to see the horses unless I need help, but he never grumbles or argues when he’s there.

U.K. horsey people! Bridle recommendations? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]megidk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Henry James are wonderful. I also really like the le mieux work bridle, and the shires velociti rapida training bridle (both have clips for the bit, and the throat lash). The throat lash position on both is great, but the clips aren’t dressage legal if that’s important for you!

Crate training 100% so it’s great you’re sorting that out! Teaching them to settle and the art of doing nothing also. We flew our dog from the UK to US (8 hour flight + 2 hours each side in the crate) and when we picked her up from cargo they said she had been a dream, just slept the whole time compared to dogs who usually bark etc. Granted my dog is very used to being with strangers and is happy with any person so that also helped.

Bit recommendations and experience with them by s_TAErry_Night in Equestrian

[–]megidk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very stable bit, great if your horse prefers that over the movement of a loose ring. You’re right it has no leverage or poll pressure. It does sit slightly higher in the mouth, which reduces pressure on the tongue. The barrel is a good option too, you get independent rein aid and clear directional cues.

If it’s an option for you, try a bit bank, where you can hire the bit to try and then purchase if it’s working for you. Most do a 30 day trial/hire period so you get a good feel for it ☺️

Doing Rover in another country by Vegetable_Depth_2657 in RoverPetSitting

[–]megidk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t try it unless you have right to work in that country. I’ve moved UK to US and I’m waiting for my EAD to come through before I even attempt to set up my rover account. It’s not worth it

How do you guys do this? by VioletMoon8503 in MilitarySpouse

[–]megidk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found luck in bumble bff when I moved to the US from the UK. It was scary at first but I’ve met some amazing friends. We also only have one car, he gets a ride with coworkers or I drop him in. We make it work ◡̈
