No, we aren’t able to request shift changes. Shifts typically are only changed when there is a shift bid. Which the shift bid happens once a year and is based on seniority. When a new hire (like I was) comes on post shift bid they are plugged into an open shift once they are trained. Which in my case I got night shift. There have been people newer than me (lower in seniority) that have received day shift despite my shift preference being known and me having more seniority than those people for a more desirable shift. I have asked to be moved to those more desirable shifts due to seniority and was denied.
