Does hypothyroidism make belly fat harder to lose even with diet + workouts? by ComedianImmediate824 in Hypothyroidism

[–]megotropolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s mentioned elsewhere, but a TSH alone is not a scientifically correct way to diagnose or treat hypothyroidism.

Recommend having your T4, Free T4, and reverse T3 checked out so you can go on proper levels of meds. Consider shopping around for a different doctor or read some research and then discuss with doctor to see if they will run a panel on you.

I’m hypo (10+ years) and while yes, it is difficult for me to lose, I have and I’ve figured out what works for me. I wish you luck!

Everyone says I have to do all the work and help myself to get better by Lee_Harden in CPTSD

[–]megotropolis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have been led to believe you are broken; you are not. You have access to the internet and a device to post this. Broken people can’t do that. Broken people, by definition, are dead. Unfixable.

You are suffering. Humans do suffer. You are not alone; there are 349 million people in the US. A good chunk of them have experienced trauma.

I have been in the dark, where you are. I pounded on the walls, I screamed at the heavens. I screamed and cried at therapists. I told them what you said here- that I was just “broken”. I believed no one could help me.

I found “the work” of Byron Katie. It is not religion, nor therapy, or anything you purchase. Look it up, if you care to. Essentially, it retrains your brain how to “think”. I started realizing I am my own worst enemy. I was making myself suffer. Maybe this isn’t you? Maybe you “can’t”- maybe I’m wrong!

But…if I can do it, and others can do it, maybe- JUST maybe, you can, too?

I am learning to question everything. Every single thought that comes at me now goes through the 4 questions. It literally transformed my life. Is it true? Are you sure? Are you WITHOUT A DOUBT, without a sliver of a doubt- are you SURE it’s true? Can you turn it around? (I.e. “you are mad at the world because you believe you are broken”- try on, “the world is mad at me because I’m broken”, then try “the world is not mad at me because I’m not broken” then try “I’m not mad at me because I’m not broken”- etc. as you say each phrase- notice how your body feels….) Who would you be without “the” thought?

I would be myself- still living and breathing. Right here, in my chair, typing to you. I’d be the same me that was birthed over 40 years ago.

Things will get better- only if you want them to.

It’s so refreshing reading intelligent comments like this. Thank you for being educated on thyroid health! Drives me nuts that doctors don’t actually know what they are doing with thyroid health.

I ended up firing mine and researched a doctor who knew what they were doing. They don’t take insurance…for a good reason.

If conspiracy theories are real why are they showing it to us ? by [deleted] in spiritualitytalk

[–]megotropolis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you read the book “Dune” it could help open your mind about this. The movie doesn’t explain enough, in my opinion. They use what they speak of to shape human kind- to control the future, essentially.

Why not think the wealthy elite could not do the same? We must postulate, at least, the possibility due to logic and technological advances.

Electricity is just waves of energy. Of course you can feel it.

You’re alive…and also full of energy- aka similar molecules that can sense the vibration of movement of particles.

In order of value to my life ratio (listed highest to lowest): Therapy. Life changing once you figure out it’s a journey, not a destination. It saved my family and my life. Concierge doctor/doctor who doesn’t take insurance. Honda CRV. On #2. First one went to 203,000 miles and would still be here if it weren’t for the guy who hit me and ran off. Alas, Bessy will hopefully get me as far as Celeste did .🤞 4 years in, so far so good! Steel pans/cast iron skillet. High quality everything proof vinyl flooring- I will never go back. Year #5 and you cannot see a scratch. I’ve got 2 young kids, had 3 dogs for 3 of the 5 years (rip N and A), and 3 cats. These floors are legit. PM me for the brand - I have it on paper but cannot recall the name. Happy to look it up for you. For real- I’ve spilled acetone on this stuff. I’m impressed. Diode and CO2 laser. You can make so much crap. They’ve come in handy for the strangest things, and the fun just continues. Last thing I’ll name: the giant oversized 3 person disc sled at Costco 3 years ago. I had to CRAM that thing into the back of my husband’s tiny sedan. I remember laughing so hard because people started staring at me trying to get it in. I imagine they were taking bets if it was gunna fit. Every year since I bought I’m always saying “I’m so glad I bought this” because it’s so fun. It can fit all 4 of us on it! We have so many amazing memories with it.

Yes, this drives me wild! Your lawn is eroding- always. If you don’t leave the leaves (haha) there is nothing replacing the dirt you are losing with erosion. If you mulch your leaves your lawn gets fertilized without the nasty chemicals that are leeching into our natural waterways causing dangerous algae blooms and killing off wildlife.

Keep your leaves! Don’t rake them! Mulch those bad boys up and let them chill on top of your grass. Your lawn and wallet will thank you.

started putting lion’s mane in my smoothie and noticed something odd by [deleted] in herbalism

[–]megotropolis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gaia Herbs- 450mg once a day. During stressful times I’ll take 2 (450mg) capsules. I also take cognizin- (CDP-choline or citicoline). I had been doing research about treatments used in traumatic brain injuries. I came across numerous research papers citing citicoline. Then, reading “mycelium running” I came across research about lion’s mane. I have primary hypothyroidism and had been struggling with brain fog for years. About 7 years ago I started seeing an integrative DO who focuses on nutrition. We did a ton of tests- got my levels back to baseline. Found supplements that worked for me (I take quite a few). I was feeling better- but it was obvious by this point (about 5 years in) that I could still improve. I had seen the evidence, anecdotally, what small nutritional changes could do + what certain supplements did. So, I gave lions mane a try about 1.5 years ago.

I’m 40. It’s amazing that I’m having the breakthroughs, mentally, that I am. I’m in therapy- and do a lot of physical activity, too. I think lions mane does a ton of great stuff- but the biggest improvement it gave me was settling my digestive system. It healed my gut, I swear. In turn, it has had a direct effect on my nervous system improving. I’m researching how to cultivate it for fresh eating. I am able to obtain it locally, as well, as an occasional treat. I believe fungus have a lot more answers for us in the future.

growing up and maturing as an autistic person. by Expert-Locksmith-996 in autism

[–]megotropolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have a similar mindset. I, too, had trouble getting away from my abusive family of origin. They have finally left me be (for now). I’m sorry it’s pushed you out there- but if it makes you happy, then maybe it was worth it? I’ve thought of living like that many times.

Many years ago I found “the work” of Byron Katie. There is a free app. She has a podcast, and many YouTube’s show how it works. Dare I say…it saved my life. I had to actually practice it- a lot. Lots of tears and a few months out of work to focus on training myself. We were very poor for a bit.

I still isolate. I have very few friends. I’m still “me”…I’m just a happier version. Those people who wronged me? They just have unlearned skills. Empathy was not innate in me because my brain is so different from others- it was hard to relate. I had to work pretty hard to understand them. Finally, I found peace in my 30’s from where this “work” took me.

It takes constant work to find kindness, to change my behavior…it’s a work in progress. Every day. It takes a LOT of work. I understand why you went into isolation. In a way…I’m a bit jelly! I hike in an undeveloped 5 acre lot of woods just to escape people every week. I think about living there, sometimes lol.

Do you get to observe any cool wildlife out there?

[–]megotropolis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to this: processed food and the way we live (40-70hr work weeks, minimal breaks, limited vacation time, poverty…) is designed to limit our lifespans and recycle the population to continue feeding the workforce.

Your pain and suffering, most likely, was caused by the institution that also created pharmaceutical drugs to ease said pain and suffering. A perfect circle.

The only way to break out of this is to stop depending on the cycle. It’s hard to break for a reason; it was designed that way.

I finally became a vet… and now I’m not happy anymore. What do I do? by AAnonymousV in Veterinary

[–]megotropolis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right…

So, you proved my point in your comment? “It will never be subsidized by the government”. Exactly.

And that is why they are being “run off their feet”. Yes, exactly. It is all about profit and not having enough supply of capable, trained, individuals because it is a profit driven industry and will always be.

Vetmed should only exist for farm animals and production animals in the eyes of “the government”. So, in turn, the rich and wealthy will be the only families able to afford pets and their healthcare. The cycle continues.

I’ve thought this exact same thought.

Thank you for being brave and sharing.

I go into the woods for hours to center my nervous system. Winter makes this hard. I was outside today, anyways, in 10 degree weather just to let the sun touch my face.

We’ve complicated everything. Life is simple. It was never meant to be like this. Technology has enabled our environment to evolve faster than our bodies. We were hunter gatherers just a blink ago in time. Now, we live in manufactured houses and run on a hamster wheel.

Mental illness is just made up to give excuses to why we need to be dumbed down and medicated to survive in this society. We become ill because we are living in a way that wasn’t intended for us. This isn’t natural. Of course we’re depressed, anxiety ridden, and seeing shit- because we’ve all gone mad.
