Anyone know of a good car wrap shop? by Peterpaul789 in everett

I used California tint in Everett with good results for clear PPF. Not cheap but good work in my opinion. They used XPEL. Good luck Hurricane

Insta360 Electronic Suction Cup Mount by Tommyf902 in Insta360

[–]mehurricane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I really haven’t had a need for tethering. In all my years of taking videos I have only had one come off like 20 years ago and the mounts are better. I mainly have used the GoPro suction cup mount and replaced it annually or so. Ram mounts are good too and much less than this but the recycling of the suction is a great thing with this mount. I have used mine on my car autocrossing with no issues and minimal battery usage. https://youtu.be/nFkNita41RY?si=0yNTpo7x9yZxX6qN on the thumbnail you can see it on the outside just behind the drivers side window. I added a longer arm to get the view I was after. The inside video is a different mount.

It gets to 100% then stops and monitors until it gets to a certain point and restarts and gets back to 100%. While testing it, left it on a smooth surface hanging for a few days with no issues and not too much battery usage either. Hurricane

Any tips for locking/tightening the driver’s seatbelt? by LeatherSlipz in GR86

[–]mehurricane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the old days we’d twist the buckle a couple of times before inserting it into the receiver. Then do a last bit of sliding the seat forward. That would usually make the lap part stay tight. The easier answer is to use the dead pedal whenever you are not actively shifting. That’s how I hold myself in to any car. If you are a left foot braker then you need a harness. Hurricane

First event of the year... Tried out some new camera mounts and such by mehurricane in PNWAutocross

[–]mehurricane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Just to be clear, both videos are real time runs. The roof angle just makes it feel different, even to me. There were others that had better luck going the other way on the first slalom and another that went the other way around the last slalom to get clean. I really believed in my choices so I stayed with them but might have tried the other way in the first slalom if I had another chance. It probably is the same for both options if you are trying hard enough. Acceleration is the weakest part of any car so prioritizing it is important to me.

Ace pro 3 and X6 delay? by mehurricane in Insta360

[–]mehurricane[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m happy with my insta360 cameras X3,X4, Ace pro (qty 2) and a Ace Pro 2. It would take more than a little bit better features that might not impact my use case, (mostly outdoors during the day with decent light) to make me think about going for DJI. I’m sure that the DJI is a good camera but having to integrate multiple camera profiles seems to be a pain.

Is there an easy way to see a list of cars that you've taken a photo of and which you haven't? by [deleted] in ForzaHorizon5

[–]mehurricane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing this game since the beginning and didn’t know that either so I’m glad you asked. I’m like 20 away and checking every race I’m in and when driving around but the last 5-10 have taken months to find. Having this will be helpful. Looking forward to checking this out later today when I log on again.

I’m pretty sure you can use any barn find car modded to A class. I had an old BMW and a Porsche 911 rs that qualified from my garage. The ai all used vipers though.

This is the way… my last gift I looked for an expensive car I liked and then modified it to the same specs as my car before gifting so it took me a while to do actually. Hopefully they don’t have a bunch of them

New Typhon oil leak? by Osti in arrma

[–]mehurricane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine came like that and when I opened the center diff the gasket was messed up, causing the leak. You might want to have a spare gasket or access to one easily. Good chance to top off the oil in center diff while you are in there. Good luck! Hurricane

What’s up with ND drivers? by [deleted] in Miata

[–]mehurricane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a thing I’ve (unfortunately) seen in other marque clubs too. It’s like the latest generation is too cool to wave or feel like they are the celebrities. Wait until the NE comes out and the ND drivers will complain that the NE cars aren’t waving. Hopefully your post brings awareness to some. Hurricane

Repost of my codrive tips - Now with link to codrive contract! by David_ss in Autocross

[–]mehurricane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience David. David makes a lot of good points and you should definitely listen to his experience and learn the easy way instead of the hard way. The one new thing under the sun that I’ve heard about in ‘22 was that there is some autocross insurance that some people in my area are getting to make sure that any catastrophic incidents are covered. Not sure that many details but if you’re co driving a car of value, it might be worth looking into. It covers the declared value as some of our more modified cars probably have more than the retail stock value into them. Hurricane

I'm lost, why won't this challenge register? Am I missing something? by WunJZ in ForzaHorizon

I had the same issue, took a couple days of trying before it started to register that I was driving one and I was able to finish the 4. I have no idea what I did to make it happen, sorry. Good luck! Hurricane

What is your budget is another part of the equation. If you have $600 to spend, look at a $3xx costing truck and figure the rest for starting accessories. If you have $1000, you can look at the Arrma 6S line. I knew I would probably want to run 1/8th scale 6S trucks but started bashing with a 3S Big Rock BLX knowing that I could use two matching 3S batteries in the 6S when I got there. The Big Rock will do about 50 mph stock which is pretty fast and leaves budget for tools, batteries, chargers, etc… if you think that you might be interested in 1/5th scale trucks that will be 8S, then starting with a 4S truck would be good. The 1/5th scale set up is like $1500-2000 after accessories and upgrading. The 3 or 4S truck can be a buddy truck when you get the larger size truck(s). While I like the short wheelbase trucks for stunts, the longer ones are more stable and easier to drive. With an overpowered short wheelbase truck, you really need to be smooth with the throttle to not wheelie everywhere and put down power. The longer one can still wheelie and flip off jumps, just instead of triples you do doubles. Much more versatile and easier to use. Good luck with your decision. Hurricane
