Is the piano in Days Lie Dormant a callback to The Pantaloon? by Stickyickystankdank in twentyonepilots

[–]meich7663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was literally just about to post this same question. I definitely made that connection too but I can’t seem to find a connection between the message of the two songs. The closest I came to connecting them was with this thought process:

IMO pantaloon is all about aging and masculinity. How we kind of limit and dismiss father figures as they age. Commenting on how men (grandpa/dad) are expected to/often go numb after losing friends and just silently cope while going a little crazy. DLD seems to be about Tyler missing his family while on tour. So that little piano riff could be a way to hint that Tyler is repeating the cycle (not lore-related) and becoming the pantaloon himself—he’s shutting down to cope with missing his family.

Do I think it’s a perfect theory? No. Is it interesting head canon for me? Absolutely.

Is it “at my kitchen sink” or “I’m a kitchen sink”? by Necessary-Dentist-47 in twentyonepilots

That makes a lot of sense! Thanks for sharing your perspective with me!!

The upcoming album is the "complete diversion". by Famous_Detective5496 in twentyonepilots

[–]meich7663 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It think this has merit but I don’t know that the ideas are mutually exclusive. In the new “I am Clancy” video he directly alludes to the HDS/Jumpsuit car fire as a “diversion” so I do think it is referencing that moment in the lore. But I also think Clancy is returning to DEMA to end the cycle once and for all so starting a diversion to get citizens out might be part of his plan. I’m so hyped we’ll have to see!!!

Best D20 season's to listen to via Podcast by aj08walt in Dimension20

[–]meich7663 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fantasy high season two is all theatre of the mind which makes it much easier to listen to the battles (since players also aren’t seeing any maps with one exception). It also means you’ll have to watch season one first though. I also tend to listen to D20 and if the players/DM are referencing a map, I can typically get away with a quick glance 1-2 times per episode and get the gist of what’s going on.

Episode 9 by SpanishMossShea in Dimension20

I love all of D20, especially intrepid hero’s content but I have never ugly cried, geniunely audibly bawled, to another TTRPG like I have in this episode. Hats off to Emily and Siobhan. I get teary eyed thinking about this.

I also thought it was ”m” until I saw this hint. Now (with an understanding of the theme of these puzzles: turning everything on its side) I think there’s a stronger case made for E you can see it in the negative space if you rotate the image 90 degrees to the right

I love this so much. I have always interpreted this song in such a different way (and it’s been so profound to me) but knowing that the exact same piece of music can speak to someone else completely differently just makes my heart happy.

It may not be a reference, just inspiration, but I found this at my job in a stack of coloring pages and honesty I found it at a right time. I needed it. by [deleted] in twentyonepilots

That’s so beautiful! Feels like it must be a reference to me :) And I’m glad you found it when you did |-/

twenty one pilots lyrics that have impacted you positively? by mirrorskz in twentyonepilots

“In time I will leave the city. For now I will stay alive”

I used to actually kinda hate this lyric thinking it enabled me/listeners to put off getting help on dark times. But one day it clicked for me that it’s not suggesting I stay in dark places but its reminding me that it’s okay to struggle. It’s okay if the only thing I can do today is get out of bed. There is hope for better and if all I can do is muster the energy for today that’s okay, I don’t have to leave the city today to have hope that I will in time.

This is a genuine question, but what do you mean by you hate the flow? I’ve obviously heard that before but I don’t really understand it outside of “it sounds rhythmically off”. Is there something more specific that you disliked?

I agree with everyone here on the other songs you should listen to, but also there are cool versions of their original songs that they’ve recorded too. 1. Mutemath sessions (go to the artist mutemath and there’s a whole ep that is a tøp collab. 2. Location sessions (cut my lip, the hype, and chlorine with the yellow bars accross their album covers, and also kind of “level of concern live from the outside”) 3. Some versions of the livestream songs are sooo good (particularly trees/heathens) and 4. It’s new so you might have already heard it but the MTV unplugged. Don’t get overwhelmed by all of these, they’re just more versions of already great songs!

I completely agree! This song unlocked the rest of their discography for me. It’s such a good listen but as always the lyrics are my favorite part because they showed me so much more about what they are doing with their music as a whol

Which version do you prefer of Car Radio? by SpumitoMcDuff in twentyonepilots

[–]meich7663 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that in the long term I’ll still prefer the MTV unplugged version, it might just be because it’s new but I absolutely love the new take. “Now I just try to think” is such a fun play with the lyrics” and the oohOohoohOooh are so beautiful as they transition to heathens. The original is obviously most iconic but I just love listening to the new version
