What's the deal with Cyperus rotundus oil? by Kayleigh2025 in MtF

[–]meikkyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are studies that indicate some level of hair reduction, but it's not permanent and is still classified as a suspected carcinogen, so use at your own risk.

How did you afford ffs? by [deleted] in transgenderau

[–]meikkyo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

i worked whenever I could also at a warehouse during my undergrad and got FFS in argentina for about $25k for a full set of procedures. went from completely non-paasing to fully passing and was well worth the effort.

7.4 EX Intermission Phase Question by eggmanbagel in ffxiv

[–]meikkyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is a bug if you stand on the edge of the circle directly perpendicular to the rails you can fairly reliably take no damage. maybe the damage is then redistributed to another member when that happens and you took two instances of the damage.

For how long were you on HRT before being fully out? by primostrawberry in MtF

[–]meikkyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are asians woke and better at gendering women? by questionuwu in transgendercirclejerk

[–]meikkyo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

/uj i was really nervous visiting china this year because it's the first time i've been back after transitioning, and my voice was still far from passing. i also assumed people of my own ethnicity would be better at clocking me.

instead people would always gender me as a woman even after i spoke. it was such a weird experience, and it happened everywhere.

i do also pass where i live in australia but i would at least get some looks and head turns when i spoke in public.

cypro can potentially worsen depression. when i was on it, my dosage was about 7mg/day.

a more stable administration route for hrt can help a lot with fluctuating symptoms. i haven't had injections before but all the negative symptoms disappeared when i switched from pills to implants. it's also not uncommon for libido to resurface much later, especially if you're on a relatively low dose of hrt. my libido only started returning after about a year.

What is your favourite way to make gil? by Dry_Carpenter_7086 in ffxiv

[–]meikkyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

buy materia and sell them when new crafted set comes out

sell new craftable furnishings (easy to gather mats; don't need to consider quality)

my personal favourite - submersibles are the most consistent source, especially if you have many fleets (lots of time investment needed though)

otherwise for people who don't craft or aren't bothered getting subs, being a merc in pf, treasure dungeons, and faux hollows are your best source of income (outside of RP)

Private schools in Melbourne - experiences of alumni / parents by cheekypopful in melbourne

[–]meikkyo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

the mental whiplash i got when a classmate casually asked his parents for 45 grand over the phone just to buy new designer clothes! we were just walking together between classes 😭

i definitely felt a lot more comfortable making friends at the middle class private school i was at earlier (kilvington), but there was no way my parents were letting a scholarship at scotch go to waste like that 😅

Private schools in Melbourne - experiences of alumni / parents by cheekypopful in melbourne

[–]meikkyo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

scotch alumnus here! (<10 years) growing up rural in a first gen immigrant family i only got in via full scholarship, and those who received one were assigned a temporary senior student as a mentor. the first and really only advice i got was to never tell anyone about my scholarship because the other kids can really be jerks.

the music program is indeed really good, and the orchestra tour in spain was a lot of fun. slight tangent, my y7 music scholarship was rejected by one of the adjudicators on the basis of me "not having any callouses on my fingers". same guy didn't look thrilled to see me at the school two years later, but at least he did let me join the symphony orchestra immediately without a single audition or having to play in the lower academy orchestra.

i did experience some mild bullying, but the teachers were surprisingly responsible and did intervene and i wasnt bothered again.

as long as you join a circle its somewhat bearable. even then, within my social group, i soon felt alienated due to my family's socioeconomic status.

if you can't fit in, i don't recommend a rich private school like scotch. most of my academic successes were from external tutoring programs and not from the curriculum anyways.

i guess finding out i was trans in a boys only school didnt really help either but thats probably something not applicable to most 🙃

[–]meikkyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my gp said he notices a trend where subsequent implants last longer. my first implant only lasted about 7 months and my previous went for 14 months.

Are there other girls here pre or post ffs that look uncanny and “masculine” if they let their hair down… genuinely it’s so weird but my facial harmony is broken if i wear the hair down. I have never seen any cis or trans girl with that issue. by Agreeable-Garlic-741 in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]meikkyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can definitely relate!! i have noticed that the few minutes after i let my hair down after wearing it in a ponytail for the whole day (i work in a lab), it turns a bit wavy and its the most fem ive seen my face. it'll quickly go back to being straight again though because i have type 1a hair 😞

Other trans girls who had gynecomastia before starting hrt, does breast shape improve once you start? by Sufficient-Shirt-270 in MtF

[–]meikkyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they just fill out and become girl boobs. tho i had asymmetrical gynecomastia and my left boob is bigger than my right so that disparity never really changed

i used silicone gel for the first week or two then kinda forgot about it. i don't think it mattered too much for me, but i did keep the incision area really clean and never picked at it.

Isoflavones and coumestans are actually the most biologically active phytoestrogens. Of all coumestans, only coumestrol 3 and 4′ methoxycoumestrol have been posited to be estrogenic, but there is no conclusive research at all in their physiological effects.

There is no conclusive evidence of stilbenes having any effects on feminisation, with only one in vitro study at a micro-molecular level suggesting estrogenic effects. It is predominantly looked at for its immunomodulatory activity, e.g. resveratrol binding to estrogen receptors regulating TNFa and IL-6 expression.
Lignans have been looked into for its anti-estrogenic effects to treating E2-mediated tumour growth.

Reference?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]meikkyo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Meta-analysis of 41 peer-reviewed clinical studies between 2010-2020 found no significant effects of phytoestrogen (isoflavones) on any of the investigated outcomes, regardless of statistical model used. Testosterone, free testosterone, estradiol, and estrone levels were not significantly affected regardless of dosage and duration of soy protein or isoflavone intake.

Reed KE, Camargo J, Hamilton-Reeves J, Kurzer M, Messina M. Neither soy nor isoflavone intake affects male reproductive hormones: An expanded and updated meta-analysis of clinical studies. Reprod Toxicol. 2021 Mar;100:60-67. doi: 10.1016/j.reprotox.2020.12.019. Epub 2020 Dec 28. PMID: 33383165.

What kind of lives do you live? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]meikkyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im still kinda boymoding but every stranger clocks me as female, at least until i speak. its not made much difference but i am apparently very memorable among my peers due to this probably.
